Do you know what the biggest gift you are going to give for Christmas is?

My family usually gives a few small gifts and one big gift to each other at Christmas. Since my granddaughter has sooo much of everything and I usually get her clothes I didn't know what the heck her "big gift" would be this year. My daughter recently moved and my granddaughter now has her own bedroom for the first time and she's loving it. She's a 14 year old with Downes Syndrome and still into mostly things for girls in the 9-10 year old bracket but we're trying to help her grow up a little bit at a time. Now she's starting to care about how she looks and has very long, beautiful hair so my daughter thought a little vanity would be nice for her room. Problem solved! A vanity is going to be her big gift for Christmas and I'm happy that I have that out of the way. Do you know what the biggest gift you will be giving someone for Christmas is? Have you had to put money aside or plan to buy it? Is it something they have asked for or just something you thought of?

I wish things were better for us this year but it's not thanks to the retirement and the VA. They're jerking us around about his retirement pay still so we're next to being dirt poor because we're in debt so much and they owe us some back pay in which we've only seen part of. Sooo we dont' think we'll have Christmas this year, at least not in the way of gifts but we're adults and can handle that. I think that is a wonderful idea how you guys celebrate Christmas! A vanity for Vicky, how cool!! She's going to love it! Bless you!

It really sucks when you have to depend on things like retirement and the VA. This is the first time in a long time that I've been able to plan on any kind of decent Christms because I've been on social security for 8 years but now I'm working part time and am finding it so much easier. My daughter is the one having a really bad time since she finally got out of an abusive relationship and has had to go back to work and I could go on and on but won't. Your just lucky you're adults and can handle it. Chin up...things will get better.

It will get better though but we just don't know when because the VA is giving us a hard time. We're having to tighen up our belts because it's about to get worse before it gets better. In other words, one big storm before the calm. Thanks for your kind words!

I hope one day, someone in my family would decide to pay my first and last months rent so I can get out of this house with seven other people. It's very hard to not be hungry and not eat all the food all the time. But, I don't think that will ever happen so I will have to go for a gift card to..anywhere! How could I complain?

I love getting gift cards...and you're right...to anywhere! That way I can get whatever I want. I hope someone will think about giving you that first and last months rent some day.....

My biggest gift I am giving for Christmas is to my 14 year old daughter. In previous years I have given her combination of items, such as clothes, books & makeup. Now she wants some money as well. This year I will probably spend up to $150.00 on her for Christmas, but this includes the cash. I spend way more on my daughter than on anyone else in my family.

Well, our kids are older now, no grandchildren. We are planning a family trip for as many as wanting to go in 2010, we figure this should give everyone enough time to get together some money for the trip. So, to help them along, we are going to give everyone Disney gift cards, that can be used toward their hotel or tickets or dining plan or whatever they want.

That is HUGE! and an awesome idea. My family can never plan anything like that because my mother is so old and has so many problems. But one day we will.

I am not sure what my son wants for Christmas. His presents are usually the biggest and the most expensive. I am doing calendars for the grandparents with pictures of my son and some of his artwork he has done at school. Yesterday we received his school photo so his Nanna and Papa get the big photo which we will frame and also send to them before Christmas.

I really don't give out a lot of gifts for Christmas, ctry, because I'm not really that close to people other than my family and a couple of friends. I give the grandkids gifts throughout the year for birthdays, etc. There are just too many of them to fit into my budget at one time. I have eight grandkids and seven great-grandkids, so that's a lot, lol. Christmas is when I try to do something special for my four daughters. I buy things throughout the year that I think they might like and save them to give for Christmas gifts. I do the same for my couple of close friends.

I am giving my sister a trip to London. She has been bugging me to go for a long time to go, we are both really into the arts and theatre so a trip to London during the season would be perfect. Already bought the tickets so I am going to put those in a new set of luggage for her.

Now that my kids are older we dont worry so much about the "big gift" like we did when they were little...mainly cause they are so damn expensive (the kids not the gift LOL) so having the little things and a major one each gets too damn pricey.....but they do always get that one gift they've been talking about for months which of course varies yr to yr :-D Mind you I would like to have one of their gifts be a weekend away to Splash Lagoon in Erie PA or somethign like that...This family NEEDS a getaway :-(

Money is tight so I have to be very careful but thanks to eBay I managed to get a Fender Stratocaster for my partner. His old Strat was broken a couple of years ago by an idiot roadie who threw it into the back of a van without thinking. He has been so miserable about it ever since as it was his pride and joy. I spotted the guitar and it is identical, the seller had not put a reserve on the guitar and the auction finished at around 2 am. I was up and awake specifically to bid for the guitar and was delighted to win it at a bargain price. It is now hiding in the back of my wardrobe and I can't wait to see my guy's face when he unwraps a large box

Whatever one give,he must give it to the person wid full honesty & love, not only for formality,it doesn't matter whether the gift is costly or huge but must be dedicated through ur heart.

My oldest daughter has always wanted an American Girl Doll. I told her that when she proved she could be mature and responsible enough to take care of it, she would get one. With her ADHD, that's always been an uphill battle. But, finally, at almost 18, she has been doing very well, so that's going to be her Santa gift this year. So, it's the biggest thing in a LOT of ways. :)

Yes. It will be the gift of love, as it always is. The house will be neglected so I can spend the day with my girls and take lots of pics for the relies. I will not be here that day, nor on any of my other sites I visit. It will be a day of relaxing and cleaning crayon marks off the walls!
