In the next three seconds: *We will cut down 799 trees. *The world's population will increase by nine. *Americans will eat 6,000 eggs and throw away 3,000 drink cans. *Four new cars will drive out of factiories and the Chinese will buy three new TVs. In the next three minutes: *People will eat the weight of 100 blue whales - that's 13,000 tonnes of food! *A poacher will kill a wild elephant in central Africa. *People will buy 176 mobile phones and take six railway trucks of aspirins. *Fishermen will kill 25 dolphins and Americans will eat four and a half cows as hamburgers. In the next three hours: *Seventeen species will disappear from the tropical rainforest. *Over 3,000 wild animals will die on Europe's roads. *Americans will use paper made from 375,000 trees and throw away 160 kilometres of plastic pens. *Europeans will buy over a million music CDs and DVDs, and British cats and dogs will eat 1.2 million tins of pet food. SO, SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT!

I try what i can. I recycle paper too. And i found out http://Greenpeace.org which can help us learn some ways on how to save the environment. Another most basic step i know is saving electricity. All you have to do is, SWITCH OFF and UNPLUG. That's all and it saves a lot of energy and even electricity bills! Trust me on this one... I keep unplugging our household items at home and my brother and sister-in-law wondered why the electric bill went down... I even bought an electric alarm clock but it didn't even add to the bill!

It would be nice, if along with your stats you would post some ways to save the environment. Here are some things that I do, I buy recycled computer paper. I recycle my Ink Cartridges I recycle plastic bottles, Aluminum cans and glass bottles I try to recycle as much paper as possible I recycle, reuse plastic bags and try to take some of my own bags to the store so I don't need them. I also receive an email called green bites which gives me ideas for recycling and doing green things. If you would like to get this email too, then PM and I will send the invite email to you.

The most practical thing in saving the environment is to do solid waste management where you segregate stuff that can be recycled and reused. Also, as a consumer you have to think of buying things that will not end up in the waste stream. You have to be a "green" consumer in the process. Here in the Philippines, Ayala Foundation, Inc. has been so strong in its Solid Waste Management (SWM) advocacy. It promotes proper SWM in the country's business district, Makati. So, I think I am saving the environment.

Thanks for your sincere notes and reminders. Not much help that I can contribute for this issue as population increase due to neonatal increase in great figures for every second, whereas mortality rate decrease due to modern health technologies. Infrastructure development has to carry on to adequately meet the growth development. Thank you very much, dzieffczynka.
