We have to give up our cat for a few weeks

We will be moving - just not right away. In order to avoid paying a penalty for breaking a new lease we're moving to an extended stay hotel until our move - likely in about two months if not sooner. I need to save money to visit my mom who has two forms of cancer and hasn't yet met her grandson. I will want to visit more than once in the next six months. Especially if... As expensive as it is, it will save us money in rent and utilities. Soon, as the rate goes down each week, we will soon save about 500 a month. Its kinda nice because we get maid service and free movie channels and wireless internet in our hotel room (the last for ten dollars a month). We also get free local calls...course we still have our cell phones.
Our cat Luna is so sick she can't come with us. The Dr. tells us that her urinating outside the box isn't a UTI but part of her skin problem. He gave her a shot and a prescription food. She gets another shot in about three weeks. We need to send her to the rescue organization we got her from to foster her while we're there. We're going to miss her so much. She looks so pathetic right now, although her hair is starting to grow back...we love her anyway! Although she has a lot of white specks of skin that she shakes off that is not good for my sinus'!
They did tell us that to retrain a cat to pee in the box is to put them in a bathroom with bedding, food and litterbox. So we'll try that. Right now we have 2.5 baths so we can give her one. This house is way too big for us now anyway. IT was the only one available on base - but we only use one bedroom, so two stay unused. We use our master bedroom, the family room, dining room, kitchen and living room - plenty of room for us. Once we move to FL. we will likely have to get a one bedroom or move about thirty minutes from base.
Anyway, has anyone else had to give up their pet for a short period of time?

The doctor feels confident, although its an ongoing condition, that the cortizal shots will help her allergies. Food and environmental.

No, but I can imagine what it feels like. A few months ago, one of my sister's friends had to give up his cat because his son was allergic to cats. I have his cat, who is named Mimi. I don't know how that guy gave up his cat permanently.
Even now, I miss my cats when I must be away from them for two or three days.

For us, hopefully it will be only short term. I miss her too - even when in the hospital for five or six days days when I had my baby in 2006.
