Ok, moral question here for all you myLotters!! A couple of weeks ago, my hubby was coming home from a race, it was about 7am on a Saturday morning. Im up, and he comes in and hands me a newspaper. I start laughing and say "Oooooh you stole our neighbors newspaper!" Hurt, he says "No, he gave it to me". I felt bad, lol I mean I wasnt really accusing him like that, I was playing with him. But I really did think he had taken it. When he was pulling up the drive I had opened the door and saw the paper boy on his bike waiting for him to pull in. So I wasnt thinking the paper boy had went back down the drive to where he parks and offered him a paper! But, I guess he did! Well on the weekends they only print one paper for Saturday and Sunday, we live in a pretty small town. So on Monday, I had ran out to the store and when I got back, I noticed a newspaper was in our mail box. Cool...kept me from having to buy one. Well Tuesday comes around and yet another newspaper in the box. Im feeling pretty blessed and Im telling my friend about it on Wednesday when I go and look, hmmm, another paper! Thursday no paper, but it was storming pretty bad so Im thinking thats why I didnt get one. But on Friday, another paper in the box. I have been getting a newspaper since the 13th of October, something I didnt request. I mean we are living tight right now, hubby is the only one working and I look at the paper to check out job opportunities. Its saving me a few dollars a week not having to pay for it. So like I said, Im seeing this as a blessing and Im going with it. SOOOOO.....do you think Im wrong for taking the newspaper daily and not clarifying with the paper boy as to why he is leaving one? Or do you also feel Ive been blessed and just keep accepting the paper he leaves in our box daily? I mean a paper boy should only get enough papers to cover the addresses on his route right? So do you think he just is being nice for whatever reason? Perhaps he bonded in some way with my hubby and wants to leave it. I really dont know, and I dont want to ask, cos I dont want them to stop! lol What do you think?? Bay xx

Who would you even report it to? I think he is just being nice. Maybe someone in your neighborhood stopped their papers and he just kept the extra one for you guys. I think its cute. Maybe he thinks you are a hottie Bay Bay.

you better expect a bill at the end of the month! LOL i think the newspaper boy and your husband misunderstood each other. maybe the newspaper boy thought your husband wanted to subscribe so he started giving you newspaper everyday. i think you should ask the newspaper boy about it so you wont have any bills piling up. there's no such thing as free meal after all. ^__^;;

Hi Bear, Well this is what I was thinking too, but he doesnt have our name. I mean can you really bill someone for a service without a name? Well last night I was talking with him, and I asked him again what was said. He failed to tell me he gave the boy a tip when he asked him if he wanted one. My hubby said a few dollars.....come to find out it was $10!! lol I said honey no wonder the boy is giving us papers! In all reality $10 would buy us 20 papers. So I think we are ok.....we DID pay for them lol Bay xx

I would ask, because you may get an unexpected bill if there was some sort of mix up.

Hi Bon, The hubby gave him $10, so I guess thats why hes leaving them, we paid for 20 papers. My dear ole hubby doesnt realise how important "details" are and when I asked him about it, he failed to mention that part to me. He even told me at first that he tipped him a "few" dollars. So Im thinking he gave him $2 or $3...lol $10 is not a few. lol Im keeping track, I will only accept the 20 papers we paid for, and after that go back to buying daily. I handle the bills and we just dont have extra money montly to give to a newspaper subscription right now. I can collect 50 cents in change everyday or the day I want one and go buy it. I dont really think that they would be able to bill me without a name, he doesnt know our name, its not on our mailbox or anything. Also a friend told me that they require you to pay first then receive, so I think we will be ok. hehe We paid after all, I just didnt know it. Bay xx

I think you should ask your husband if he asked the boy to deliver newspaper to your house... if he says no... then i think you have to ask the newspaper boy why he is giving you newspaper everyday... There might have been a misunderstanding or miscommunication... even if you think that you are getting free newspaper... the payment for that will or might ultimately be shouldered by the paper boy himself... if there is a miscommunication or something...

Hi Aseretdd, I did! :) I asked him if he stole it, and he said no the paper boy gave it to me. lol He said the boy asked him if he wanted a paper and my hubby said yes and he gave him one. I thought just for that day or something, but I have been getting them everyday since. I mean if it comes down to it and the paper boy gives me a bill for the delivery, I will pay of course. Otherwise Im not saying anything. If its free, Im feeling more than deserving of a blessing and we surly need one! Ive been out of work for a year, and my hubby has been working really hard to pay for everything. A few dollars may not seem much to most, but it really makes a difference in our household. Bay xx

Hi, Bay! We get the Tampa Trib and the subscription is only $13 a month. The price is significantly reduced from the 'cover price' when you subscribe. If your paperboy is giving you papers at the subscription price then you'll be getting more than 20. Hope you find a job that suits you, soon!

Hey Rosie, That is true, but since I didnt subscribe I was giving him the benefit really. I dont think your paper boy offering you a paper and you tip him for doing so constitutes a contract. They have a special going, $19.50 for 3 months, but like I said, its not so easy. I sure hope I find something soon too. Not like I havent been trying....and well thats a whole nother topic! LOL Thanks Rosie! Bay xx

Either the paperboy has an extra one everyday,or he assumed Tim wanted one everyday. I would ask the paperboy just so you dont get slammed with a bill then try to argue with them. Let me know what happens,k?

lol Gosh I knew this was a mistake, my blessing is going to be jinxed!! lol I was thinking that last night, and you know....You have to call the office to get the paper going. I didnt do that and they have no record of it. Im going to see if I can catch him tonight when he brings it. Phooey! Hahaha Im hoping it just him having an extra one and leaving it for us. Its not like the paper boy is on commission or something. lol But I wouldnt want to see it taken from his pay or anything. Bay xx

Shame on me, I didn't read through all the other peoples post (I'm way too busy plussing- hahahah) but I'm sure someone else might have already brought this up... My son delivered newspapers for a few years and he could request an extra paper for a week to give as a sample to someone - usually when someone new moved into the neighborhood. That way they would like it and call him up to subscribe - he would put a little flyer in it while it was free telling them how many they would get and all that. Your paperboy might be doing that too, having talked to your husband and thinking you all might go ahead and subscribe. If you're getting it still though, the paperboy may have misunderstood your hubby, or hubby misunderstood the paperboy and you will get a bill soon...

LOL Shame on you? Well then shame on half of myLot, sometimes your lucky if anyone reads the entire post and not just the title, and who really reads all the posts before they do?? LOL ;) Well I found out that the paper is pre-paid and unlike you dealing with the paper boy to exchange money, you have to send it in to the paper, and they will bill you. Its a really small town. Well we got one 2night, and I wanted to catch him to actually talk to him, and he had already came. I would just like to know out of curiosity why hes leaving one. My hubby did give him $10...he said a tip of a few dollars at first....then when I asked him again he said $10. LOL Aaah gotta love a simple man who thinks that its not an important detail. :) I tell him, Details! Details! Details! they mean everything!! haha

I would say that your husband subscribed for the paper. After all, you are looking for a job. It could be that this is temporarily, and the paper will be delivered free for a short period of time to get you introduced to the paper and get you as a regular customer. So your husband may be taking advantage of a good deal. Oh since your husband is the head of the family, he does not need to ask for your permission and probably knew you would say no, and it might be that he needed it. It also could be that your husband got a bonus and he spent the bonus on a newspaper subscription. So what you have to do is ask your husband if we are now subscribing to the newspaper and do it nicely, no funny jokes.

LOL Suspenseful!! What do you mean no funny jokes?? Aww your taking the fun out of it! *joking* hehe :D I asked him again what was said, and he said the boy asked him if he wanted a paper, and my hubby said yes, and so the boy gave him a paper, and he said he tipped him, said a few dollars. Turns out the few dollars was $10! Soooooo....I think we have paid for the newspapers we have received. I wouldnt really say no to my hubby, its his money, although he may be the breadwinner, Im the head of the household. I handle all the bills, the shopping, the cleaning, the cooking etc....so even though I dont work, Im still the head of the house. I wouldnt mind a subscription, but since money is harder to come by all at once for the month, I buy them seperately daily. I can easily scrape up 50 cents daily versus whatever it is monthly. I know that sounds sad, but its how life is right now. Im going to talk with him tomorrow, if I can catch him. I guess I will have to leave a note on our box for him to ring the bell, hes quick! lol Bay xx

Im going to talk to the kid though, I missed him Friday and he brings them really early on Saturday so I will try and talk with him on Monday to see what is really going on. lol
