Should Liverpool sell overrated Steven Gerrard?

I believe this is the right time for Liverpool to sell their once-talismanic captain. All he do is thinking about himself while trying to shoot every ball that come into his way and trying to control the game on his own. Liverpool miserable result since he's coming back from injury shows this clearly. To prove my point further, two of the best games Liverpool played this season (4-0 against Toulouse and 6-0 against Derby) were managed without Gerrard playing. Do any of Liverpool fans out there agree with me?

No I hope not. I am LFC die hard fan and I guess Gerrard will stay in LFC for the rest of his career. Liverpool will do somthing to improve their performance.

But what I'm worried about is that nowadays LFC keep drawing in the league......they won't be able to challenge for the title if they keep drawing....what they need is some wins and some finishing touch....

David Villa and Torres wudn't work so well together, even though he is a good player, plus Valencia have been struggling a little this year so maybe they would let him go a little cheaper than previously, but he wud still be 20m+ i reckon. We need someone similar to Crouch, but with a bit of pace about him. A strong type good on the ball with a good work rate but with that natural technique. Ibramhimovic of Sweeden and Inter Milan (who i will be going to see play at Anfield :oD ) was a player i thought was overrated, but hes been very good for Inter and has a bit of class about him.

I think Liverpool need another top quality striker, Kuyt, Voronin and Crouch are just not up to the challenge at top level. We need to bring in players such as David Villa and keep playing our best team week in week out. With a maximum change of players of 3 each game. this lets the team build chemistry and play better.

nope i definitely disagree. there are other clubs waiting to buy stevie g, but he has declined. that is true loyalty for you. liverpool is his home and he's a scouser through and through. he has been inspirational to the team and is just as important as benitez at this moment. liverpool can't afford to lose either. he is definitely not selfish and trying to control the game on his own. i have seen many instances when he has passed the ball on to torres. but on many of those ocassions poor torres just can't find the net.

How is gerrard overrated? Istanbul is a massive example. he is a great player and should not and will not leave liverpool no matters what happens!

I think you are bit too harsh on Gerrard. I still feel that is a talisman for the team. I think one of the major reason for these slipping performances of Liverpool is the rotation policy that Benitez continues to apply despite getting into trouble the last three seasons at crucial junctures as well. I think Gerrard still has a lot more to offer to Liverpool. Cheers! Ram

Toulouse and Derby ! well well ! won these games without Gerrard did we . Honestly no disrespect meant to these teams, but we should be winning games like this with 9 men Gerrard or no Gerrard. Gerrard and Torres are starting to gel, working with a greater understanding as time goes by. Get rid now. NO WAY

Gerrard is the best player in England and thats the reason he is the liverpool fc. I think Gerrard and Torres were good teammates, they understand each other. Godbless liverpool for the next season.

I dont think Liverpool should sell of of their Finest captains.Steven Gerrard has been selfish in trying to score himself but he has also given a high uality defense and been of the best mid-fielders Liverpool ever had.So I dont think captain Gerrard should sell their captain bucause this can also effect team performance.

gerrad is the pillar of strength for liverpool a fans favourate and 100 percent team player. He has always scored crucial goals for them and won so many games .The problem is not gerrad ,the problem is bentiz style of playing where he never keeps the same squad and doesnt even play gerrad in his most desructive position that is central midfield

If you claim to be a Liverpool fan (which i highly doubt unless u watch em again from an arm chair now and again), then how you can say should we sell Gerrard, and then in same sentence claim hes overrated - you must be mad. If you can't think of all the things hes done for the club, games he's took by the scruff of the neck and times hes scored a screamer to get us back on track, then i suggest you watch a little bit more football played by liverpool and less time talking tripe. Liverpool 3-1 Olympiakos - I was there, never a more magic moment, and oh we won the Champions League that year, of which he scored the 1st goal on the comeback. Enough said really.
