Do Offices or Workplace need a Dress Code?

Many colleges have adopted dress codes and this has been a success. Like this do you think there should be dress code in Offices too where there is no regulations on dressing and we can see revealing dresses quite often. Certain IT corporate houses have started to implement dress code. Whats your view on this?

I think there should definitely be guidelines, but not a uniform. I think it is appropriate to say that revealing clothes are unprofessional, and that appearances must be neat, but to request a uniform in an office is going a bit too far.
