The winds have shifted now the smoke is headed for Las Vegas and southern Nevada.
OUr sky it to turn that yuck brown color as the winds head our way . BUt we are being tol that it wont get to our ground level. SO danger for old people and youngsters being out side BUt they are also saying we might not want out doors and windows open for the smell might get in to the houses.
So again the fires not only hurt californians but Nevada again!
It is so sad when The fires burn so bad and so long that so many poeple are effected and I know there is no other way to fight the fires than what they are already doing.

Oh boy! I have seen bits of news about the fires but we're not kept up to date so much, here. My friend in Washington State told me that she has a very good friend in San Diego and that she received no response on her instant messenger, so was a bit worried. I also knew from other discussions and news clips on the internet that it's been pretty intense in California.
I hope the winds will change around again soon, and steer it away from you again... it must be awful living under that yucky sky and unable to air your home by opening windows. I saw a chemical plant fire here once, in Redcar... went into Redcar, a lovely seaside town, to shop, and it was like dusk all the time... very dreary looking. I hope you don't have to suffer this too long, my friend.
Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xxx

Yes, it got trapped in the canyon, I suppose. Fire is not a nice thing... it's toxic and affects the atmosphere and light.
I haven't heard from my friend since Sunday, so don't really know whether she heard anything back from her San Diego friend. I'm praying she will though. xxx

I would keep my doors and windows shut. Hopefully it won't get too bad. It is sad that the fires are creating so many problems. Hopefully things where you are will be back to normal soon. It is devastating, my best wishes go to the people that they have affected.

I pray you all stay safe. One time when I was in Las Vegas I experienced a really weird weather event. It was a very strong wind storm blowing the sand in from the desert. I was so thick we could not see across the street(strip) and we were advised not to leave the hotel. Have you every experienced anything like that?

yes we do get sand storm once in awhile but some times it blows out fore it gets to town now that so much more has been built up around town.
MOstly now the Garbage cans blow into the street and sand gets every where and if any one has trees it can blow them over.

I hate that the fires started in the first place. I heard that in many cases it was not just lightening storms but also arson. I also heard that the tree huggers and environmentalists were preventing the firemen from cutting down trees so the fire would not leap over and burn houses. I can see the damage that can be done to the old people and the children when the fumes get into their houses.
The firemen are doing what they can and we can only pray that no one hinders their work.

Yes, during times like this there is a real reminder that what affects one...affects the whole. Even as far away as we are from Mount St. Helene's in B.C. when it erupted...it affected our skies as well.
There is a lot of talk about the effects of global warming and how these fires are becoming larger and more problematic as a result of it. Thanks for letting us know about how far the smoke is traveling...it is good to bear in mind that we are always a part of this global community...in so many ways.
Best regards...and big hugs,
Raia

That is one of the reasons I am grateful for where we live. There are so few natural disasters to think about. Every now and again there is smoke when farmers are burning rubble...and the odd hurricane has hit here. By and larger we are not near any major bodies of water that could spill over the banks, mudslides, fires...we're nestled up in the hills on higher elevations than other parts of Manitoba. So Manitou...is aptly named.
Anyway, hope your skies clear soon!

Let's just hope and pray that the conditions improve soon so the fires can be put out and no more lives lost. I'm so sorry you have to deal with the smoke and everything, that must be so difficult
