Police investigation used this method to test a suspected criminal if he or she is telling the truth or not. With this lie detector machine, the examiner is able to identify, sketch, and assess if the person is answering truthfully with certain questions that are being asked to him or her. Do you think this method are perfect? Have you experienced being examined with a lie detector test? Do you think this test is useful enough to solve problems such as infidelity, cheating spouse, murderer, robbery, etc.?

I don't really know enough about Lie Detector tests to comment really, but I'm going to have my say-so anyway! The only time I've come across them is on TV Chat Shows Lol! In theory, it is a really good idea. You wouldn't be able to use it as evidence, I don't think it would be reliable enough to warrant that, but I think if there really is no other possiblity of solving a crime, it could be used to help investigations! I personally, would like to take a lie detector test, just to lie and see if it works! Silly eh? IT would be nice to see if it works as much as these TV shoes say it does! All in all, I think it is a good idea, in theory, but in reality, it probably wouldn't work so well!

I tend to not trust lie detector tests, I don't believe them to be accurate, however, people I know who have taken them said that they are pretty accurate.

They have never been perfect and no one has ever denied it, I dont think they will become perfect either in the future, they might even be dropped because they are turning out to be useless anyway..

Most scientists now agree that polygraph 'testing' is junk science. In fact, John Larson, one of the pioneers of polygraphic lie detection, says "I'm sorry I ever had any part in it's development." The test is valued by governments and others because it is useful for getting damaging admissions from people, especially those who don't know that the test is a sham. http://searchwarp.com/swa52925.htm Unfortunately, the lie detector test is actually biased against the truthful. This is because the more honestly one answers the "control" questions, the more likely one is to fail. Meanwhile, hardened criminals have proven again and again that they can lie throughout the test without detection. While it is true, that the operators of this flawed machine is not perfect individual, still they are subject to errors. Operators use this kind of trickery as a standard part of the testing procedure. They also have to use their own judgment. If they think you are dishonest, they may interpret the results differently. Even if they don't do this, they may push harder to find questions that give the result they want. Whether this is conscious or not, it shows how unscientific the whole procedure can be.

Thanks for this great information. I do not know why some of the police investigators or even the FBI still used this method to judge a criminal case; well in fact, the test is biased against the truth at some point.

though i have never been under a lie detector, but i strongly feel that the lie detector is not totally perfect or fool proof.. for ple has had been lying for their whole life, lying has become part of them that it's normal and common.. It's has become part of them as they need lies to pass their life.. So when the lie detector comes, it wun be able to really detect if they are speaking the truth..

No i do not think lie detectors are perfect, there is nothing perfect is this world.I have heard that the lie detector is good for only 80% of people so the other 20 can lie it.If there is a prepared person that can stop his emotions he can lie it.

Probably not, I think part of the test is that is monitors your heart rate, and if I was put to the test I would be nervous and hence my heart rate would increase suddenly anyways, and so it would be pointless here. Although some people can probably practice to control their breathing and such and can lie without getting caught, apparently from what I've been told, so they aren't perfect. From the statistics I've seen, they are still pretty high though (in terms of being correct).

i dont think tats the perfect test...lie detector test is based on the response and reaction of suspects on being asked some questions...there are ppl who are very good at hiding the truth...v cant make out whether they are lieing from ter body language..in such cases tis test is of no use......
