Your question is not an easy one to answer. I think lots of people would want to know what is a good topic and there are plenty of books etc written on it. Money making may seema good idea but it is a very congested area and so the question is how to get people to find your site. I have managed to set up math site that gets about 1,000 visitors everyday. Math is my interest and I find that I can grow the site conatantly. Finding a niche for your site is an important step, it can be tricky though. First of all, if your objective is to make an income online, then you should work towards gaining a huge base of users or readers for your site. In my opinion, the "make money online" niche is over-saturated and not a good niche to go into. You should choose a topic which is both your expertise as well as there's a demand for it in the market. When you share your expertise and authority on certain topic, be it a product or a service, people will flock to your site for the info you provide.

Write about what interests you because that's the only way you can maintain your website for a long time. Think of things you like to talk about or would like to know more of and start from there. Infact now a days every body is on look for eaning opportunities on internet. Few sites which offer little money for discussion, making friends are getting members every moment. However, I feel that more important point is your interest. If you are interested in such subject then only you can go for such sites. Ofcourse, you can find many people to help you if you do not have sufficient knowledge of the subject, however, you have to be active for running the business of the site and if you are not interested in it then it will not be fruitful to you.
