Anyway... to continue on from this discussion:
http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1309720.aspx
I was feeling kinda good for the rest of the week. I was freaked out about the whole ordeal, but then I decided that if Lani was going, why would they make me leave too?? That would just be stupid to have only the Lab assistant/phlebotomist as the only person who knows anything. So I decided to stop worrying about it.
Since Staphanie was learning my area, I figured maybe I'd get a chance to learn hers. So I asked about this and was told that Stephanie needed to learn my area, but there was no reason for me to learn hers. She would be a back-up for my CX-7. Ok, I felt wierd about that, but then decided that since I only work 3 days, she'd have to do it the other two. Cuz surely the new person won't learn EVERYTHING that fast. So I let that blow over.
Lani had mentioned a friend of hers who wanted to apply, and had experience managing a lab. So the following week, I asked her if he had applied yet and she said that he may not because he needed the full time position. Hmm... He needed the full time position... what other position was open?? (Mine) But I didn't say anything cuz she tried to backpeddle and re-state that so that it didn't sound suspicious. After that, I started to get really paranoid.
Then we had pictures taken for ads in the paper. Lani didn't want to do it since she's leaving soon, but we all went down to do it. When they were taking pictures of the lab people, (there are only 5 of us!) Amelia decided to pull Lani AND ME out of the pictures!! She said it looked too crowded!! So there's one picture with all 5 of us, then about 5 more without Lani and me. Hmmm...
Then one day, they finally hired the new guy who was going to be the new lab manager. I told Lani that I could be more flexible in the days I work while she was training him and she said she'd see what Amelia (top boss of the clinic)wanted to do. This was my last day for the week and I couldn't think of anything else but wondering about what was about to happen. I kept talking to Stephanie about my paranoia, and I was just really nervous. I felt like a cow on her way to the slaughter house. I hoped it was just my insecurity, so did Stephanie, but we didn't know anything. Everything was being kept so quiet.
Then Amelia called me to her office and told me that with the new guy, they had no need for a part time tech. After Lani was gone, they weren't sure if they'd need one then either, so... sorry! Bye bye... THis was two days after my birthday!
Although they used a very valid excuse, and it works much better on my job applications, I don't believe it. We just added another Dr. to our clinic, making 11, and were about to go to 12. So we have been getting really busy lately. I was hoping to get to go full time soon. I am really watching the ads cuz if they post one, I'm applying, just cuz. There is no way they can run the lab with Stephanie and a new hire who won't know much, and will be too buy messing with administrational things to be much help.
So here I am. I lost about $1000 a month (even though it was just part time, it was still my better job) and I'm in a pickle. So I'm searching around for something else. I wish I would have followed my gut and started looking. But they had an excuse for eveything and kept so quiet about it. So sneaky. POOPY HEADS!!!!!

Oh, wow. I'm really sorry to hear that. It's too bad that they couldn't at least give you 2 weeks notice. I know most jobs require that from their employees. Yet they sneak around and do away with their employees in a moments notice. It's pretty pathetic, the way employers treat their employees. Where I work, I see how things are done, and sometimes it just makes me sick. I hope you're able to find a job to replace that one real soon, and I hope it's better pay. Take care.

I thought that was petty heartless too. And they know my situation with having to work 3 jobs since my husband left. I can't afford to be without a job, but I guess they didn't really care. This was my best job, even though it was only part time. It was still where I made most of my income.
