Unknown to many cebuanos and filipinos. Cebu is one of the child friendly city of the asia. Simply for the reason that we have a very active advocacy program on child rights and welfare. Recently, we had our 6th Children Summit of Cebu city, wherein children from different organizations took part in the drafting of CEBU 10. This is the city's multi sectoral action plan which embodies the vision of cebuanos 10 years from now. Hopefully, people will take notice and organizations participate in making and further developing Cebu City as a better place for children and adult as well. the state of our children is a reflection of the state of our society.

Personally, I have never had a chance to visit the Phillipines, but I think highly of people who are from Cebu, and the culture and language there. I actually have good friends of mine from the Church I attend that are from Cebu, and what I have learned from then would make me feel proud to go and visit there. You should be Proud of where you are from.

i didn't know that Cebu has a reputation of being a child friendly city. if its true then that's great. people and places should be friendly and nice to every child. what i only know about Cebu is that its a great tourist spot and that cebuanos would rather speak english than speak tagalog because they love their native dialect so much. ^__^;; correct me if im wrong okay? ^__^

thank you for reading and commenting on this discussion. well yeah youre right about us cebuanos who love to use our own native dialect. this is also an edge coz we could speak tagalog and english too. we are more flexible as to language is concern.

Yes its all for the good cause but then again for an ordinary Cebuano like me i just pity those poor children roaming in the street begging for money...is the Cebu government doing anything about it?they seem to grow in number as ive noticed nowadays.

well actually there are actions to help them get off the streets. infact there are programs like alternative education, temporary shelter and micro industry. It's just that some of these kids hasnt really took advantage of what the government is offering them. they prefer the adventure in the streets than be inside institutions that give them food, shelter, education and work. I dont know many of them are just short sighted. they go to these institutions for just few days and then they go back to the street. moreover, christmas and sinulog is coming more and more children from outside cebu are coming. that is expected. thanks for the comment.
