Are you a peeker?

Well, are you? I am! During Christmas or anytime really taht I know I have a gift coming, I start roaming the house and try to find out what I have. I know that is really bad, but I can't seem to stop myself! I peek at my gifts and I have gotten pretty sneaky at it! I have learned some nifty tricks over the years that probably fool no one but myself. Did you know that once you have peeled the tape off of a package, that white rice (the starch) can reseal a package? hehehhe. My husband knows he cannot put anything under the tree until absolutely the last minute. He can't tell me about gifts at all for fear that I will torture him until he either tells me or shows me. I go looking all over the house for my gifts. It's sad really lol. So, what about you? Are you a peeker or do you know someone who is?

No. I never wanted to see presents I was getting before getting it. Ironically I don't really like surprises either so it doesn't really make any sense. But I just think it ruins christmas to know what you're getting before you were going to get it. It just seems to ruin the spirit.

I think I love the thrill of the chase. Trying to find it, sleuthing about the house and trying to solve the mystery if you will. Can you picture me with a magnifying glass and a sherlock holmes cap?

i was never a peeker of gifts ! i think because when we we're growing up, we usually only got one gift at xmas and the like. so, if we peeked we wouldn't have, had a surprise for xmas etc. so, i have never ever peeked, preferring to be surprised instead, even to this day ! but, i did have one child that peeked and one that didn't, but the hubby is the worst. because he always looks at his gifts, all wrapped up nice & pretty etc. and he sits there, thinks about whats in the box and guesses ! and the bad part is 99% of the time he's correct which kills me...lol but what i find even more annoying then peekers...are those who have a surprise for you, and they get so excited about it, that they wanna tell you what the surprise is and keep naggin' at ya, to get you to break down so they can give it to you ! it's like they can't wait, which i kind of understand but to give a gift early etc..is not my style as i'd prefer to see they're face on the day the surprise was given for !

I have told all of my friends that if they have something to give me don't tell me what it is because I will be forever wanting to guess utnil I get it right. So most everyone doesn't tell me lol.

i can say that i am a peeker as well... but not to the extent to roam the whole house and forcing my hubby to tell me what he has for me... i like surprises as well... so i prefer to wait for the perfect time for him to give the gift to me and it is more surprising rather than knowing it before hand...

I am pretty bad aren't I! I harrass him until he tells me lol. It's pretty bad here during the holidays. Last year wasn't so bad, because he was home on leave and we were moving in together. So I had so much on my plate that I didn't have the time or energy to concentrate on my gifts, however, I did harrass him a bit and he gave me some cheapie gifts to keep me satiated until I got my real gifts hahaha!

I am not a peeker. I rather wait until christmas. Plus I don't go around looking for presents in the house. I never met anyone who says they are a peeker.

I used to be a peeker when I was a kid. Even though I knew that the surprise wouldn't be as good when I finally opened my gifts, I couldn't help myself. I used to split the tape, right on the seam so you couldn't tell. Then I would press a new piece really hard over the old piece. You couldn't tell that it had ever been opened. And nobody knew I was doing it, so they were never closely inspected anyway. Now I would rather wait for the big day to find out! Of course, my husband wants to give me my gifts as soon as he buys them! He bugs me every day until Christmas because he wants me to open them right away. I don't give in and it drives him crazy.

He sounds about as bad as I do! I am like that too with my husband about his gifts that I have bought for him. He is the one that tries to get me to shut up and let him have his surprise on the appointed day. I wish I had his patience.

Oh man, I've done this every year since I was old enough to. I've done the tape fix, the pre-Thanksgiving searches, everything. I'm pretty sure I've got it down now. Know exactly where to look!

I am a seasoned professional lol! My mother shopped at the thanksgiving sales and I knew to look after Thanksgiving. I was just terrible. Now I am not so bad when it comes to my parents giving me anything, it's directed at what my husband is giving me lol! My husband however is very unpredictable and I can never find out where he puts them. He knows me so well hahah!

Shame on you! Shame on you! You are like a big kid! But hey aren't we all big kids when it comes to Christmas, I'm 36 and I still love Christmas as much as I did when I was a kid, but even I don't sneak peeks at my pressies and that's the truth! Least you are honest about it tho' most would say NEVER and I bet they do.

Oh I hide my face in shame! hahaha! Well, I am trying desperately to curb my "enthusiasm" for my gifts. I know my family really wishes that I would hahha! I am pretty honest about it and I know my daughter isn't! I know she has tried to sneak peaks lol!

You are so like my husband!! I sympathize with your husband as it is so annoying and kind of ruins it for me! I like the surprise for myself and others! My husband tends to go one step further and has in the past not been able to keep my gift from him a secret...He can't resist spilling the beans and I really don't want to konow as I want to open it! Why wrap it if the person knows what it is? What a waste, it is not a gift then!

I can remember at one time I was snoopy but not anymore. If I knew there was something for me in a bag accross the room I would never bother to spoil the surprize now. When I was younger Oh Yes you better believe it, but now No.

I know all about that compulsion! LOL! I am trying very hard not to bug my husband about it. I know he is sending me some things from Iraq, and I want it to be a surprise, so, I told him to not tell me anything when he gets me something. He did tell me there was a package in the mail so I am excited! Thanks for responding! Well, I hope your beloved sees fit to buy you something here soon! hehehe

I really am not much of a gift person. I don't like people spending their money on me and I have so little to spend on others. Our family keeps the gifts really pretty simple. It is fun to be surprised. If i were living with someone like you, I would find a place outside of the home to stash your gifts. I'd probably find humour in just torchering you with curiosity.

Oh sid! Your a bad one! hahahah! My husband does have to hide his gifts outside of the home lol! He has on occasion double wrapped my gifts. Although I think it is just because he is not a gifted wrapper if you will hehehe. He is terrible at wrapping presents. You and my husband find pleasure in torturing a poor soul such as myself! For shame hahahah!

Well, i have to say no. I love surprises. Sure, the temptation is there, but.... Actually, I have to shop for myself most of the time, as my partner never knows what to get me. That's cool, with the number of kids we have, by christmas day, I've forgotten any way! lol.

Well, with having to shop for yourself, that means you get what you want hehehe! Nothing wrong with that and then you have forgotten what you bought, so that's even better. I don't like my husbands taste in jewelry so I wish he would just give me a gift certificate for jewelry or just take me shopping after the holidays and we can choose something together. Last year he bought me this atrocious sterling silver ring with the biggest faux pearl I have ever seen. I honestly think this thing had something to do with sinking the titanic.

I don't blame him for wanting you to buy the gifts for the family. I wouldn't want to get the same items either hehehe. Well, I am glad that your hubby knows your likes and dislikes. My husband can pick out really beautiful jewelry but sometimes he picks some real bombs! Most other gifts he is right on target with me. I love anything he gets me, other than the pearl ring hehehe.

LOL. Yeah, no returns here. He knows what I like and what I don't. The craft shop is always a safe bet! lol. I do all the shopping for the kids from him too, he doesn't like doubling up on pressies! lol. Men!

Of course I am..lol usually only at Christmas time though. I know it is bad thing to do but I just can't seem to help myself. I just get so excited about them like I am a kid well I still am at heart I guess even though I am 33 this year. We used a glue stick to do the packages with it leaves cleaner lines then the tape and easier for the kids to rip into on the big day. My husband has resorted to either not shopping till the last minute or leaving them at his brothers house. But I usually still peek as soon as they are brought in..They are usually gifts for the house though stuff needed for the house that I wanted. Clothes is not really something he gets for me since he never ever gets the right size..lol This year I am not real excited about Christmas because I know money is going to me really tight and we will probably barely be able to get the kids a few gifts so If I get something this year I will be surprised..

Well, I know what you mean about money being tight. Even though my husband is over seas and he gets compensation for that, I am not working and we still have bills we need to pay and I am trying to pay extra on things to get them paid off faster. I am doing pretty good with gifts for everyone in my family, but I am only getting 2 small gifts for each person and most for my daughter. My husband is getting one or two things and he is giving me one or two things. I would rather wait for him to be home and we can have a big christmas, so that's ok with me that I am not getting anything really this year. I am just looking forward to my daughter opening her gifts. Thanks for responding!

I go through the house looking for my Christmas present, and when it is under the tree, I pick up what it is and try to guess, "Hmmm not large enough to be a Cuisinart" "It could be a dVD set. Oh maybe it's Battlestar Galatica" etc. and I go and compare it to the other sets we have. I turn it upside down and try to think if it is heavy enough. But sometimes it is from one of my sons, or an extra present and the real one comes in later.

Yeah I seem to be the same way lol! I can't stand it and I end up looking just to see if I can find out what it is. Most often I am so sneaky I get away with it, but I have been trying the last couple of years to hold out with not much success lol!

I am most definitely NOT a peeker. I would much rather be surprised when Christmas gets here. I love the anticipation of having all the presents under the tree and not knowing what's in them until Christmas morning when I open them. My husband can bring something home, not wrapped yet, and leave it in our room, just in the shopping bag...he just has to say that it is part of my Christmas, and he KNOWS that I won't go near it.
