Karwa chauth is a festival celebrated by Hindus in Northern part of India where married women take fast the whole day (without even drinking water) till the the rise of moon for the well being & longevity for their husband. I have a questions on this... Are men too not supposed to observe fast or the well being of their wives. Why only for women. Is it fair for the husbands to be on feast while their beloved wives are on fast.

hi gloria, i agree to what you say that even men should have observed the fast but you would be gald to know that a few husbands like amitabh bachan they also observe these fast fro their wife..isnt great that there would be many more hubby who really love their wife would be fasting on karva chouth. Well no matter whether the fast is observed by men or not but no women would like to go against this and would always fast no matter what evr happens.

Even though I hardly believe in customs and riuals, I think Karwa Chauth is one of the most romantic and thoughtful customs of India where the wives fast for their men and the men break the fast in presence of the moon. It's amazing and wonderful. Tanks gloria.
