Do you take advice from TV decorating shows?

Do you get any really good advice from television decorating shows on The Learning Channel or HGTV? Do those shows help you decorate better? Or, maintain a more beautiful home? I love watching the decorating shows on television. But, sometimes I find their advice to be a bit archaic or too fancy. And, most of the stuff they advise is way out of my budget anyway. So, I just end up doing the best I can, with the money I have. And, try not to focus on the rest. I just wish their suggestions were more common sense and less expensive. How about you? What do you gain from watching decorating shows on television? Do they offer practical advice?

I would, perhaps if I was ever home to catch one of them during the day but i am not so i have to manage all on my own but I seem to be fairing quite nicely if I don't say so myself.

I like some of the ideas on those shows, but there are a lot I don't like, too. I've never really copied anything I've seen on those shows. I don't really watch them on purpose, though. Sometimes one will be on in the background while I'm doing something else, but that's really about it.

I love watching the shows that do up a house in a weekend but I am not a handy type person but I must admit I have seen great ideas on TV it is just a matter of the budget to get someone to do them.
