How did you lose your favorite pair of shoes?

About a year ago, my cat got into my closet and knawed the strap off one of my shoes. I was devasted. It was a really nice pair of shoes. Very comfortable, too. I had to throw both shoes away. Now, I'm wishing I had kept my closet door shut. Who knew that cats could chew shoes. But, at least it gave me an excuse to shop for more shoes. And, that's never a bad thing!
How did you lose your favorite pair of shoes? Did they get lost while you were moving from one house to the next? Did your dog get hold of them and chew them up? Did you grow out of them?

This has never happened to me, I have a specific place for all of my shoes and that's is where they go when I am through with them.
