1. President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed National Harvest Festival in November 1963 and since then is is celebrated in USA, UK and elsewhere to commemorate the harvest and other blessings during the year. 2. Basically it is home celebration with religious overtones. 3. Turkey is the traditional meat at the feast 4. Pumpkin pie and pudding are symbolic and favourite dishes at the feast. Now there may be some interesting facts about THANKS GIVING DAY. Can you jot it down in your response for my benefit and benefit of other mylotees please.

Congratulations! - I congratulate you.
Thanks sada. I thought Thanks giving day is celebrated to mark the expedition and for arriving at definite and safe destination from Europe withstanding a stormy voyage to the then unknown land of America. I could be wrong. I feel, harvesting is so much coveted everywhere on earth. It means hope, dream fulfillment, good living and prosperity. We celebrate Pongal or Baisakhi with the same fervour, isn't it? Thanks sada. PS: I am stupefied at the tremendous productivity of your thoughts. You are at 17358 now. I guess, it would take only a day more to reach 14500. C O N G R T U L A T I O N S.

I went through the historic books but HOW and WHY series book says it has nothing to do with religious or political wars, but directly connected with harvest and thanking the god for all the favours showered on growers in particular and people in general. Regarding posts, I am unable to go faster because I am running business centre which takes time and also I am a broker for Mutual Fund investments, that takes a few hours. In between when I am free, I log in mylot and it takes a long time to complete couple of posts.

Sada, thanks for your initiative to take the trouble to do the googling bit. I am glad that you did and cleared my misconception. After getting to know your pre occupations I am even more at awe. How can you manage doing all these! I really appreciate it and do wish you reach more heights in everything you do. Thanks.

Hello my dear ssh. I am so happy to happen to find this discussion of yours after finishing a discussion of my friends. It just appeared on the similar discussions. Well, let's come to the point of the topic itself. To beging with, I am showing great interest in the useful information about the history of Thanksgiving, which has now filled in my blank knowledge of Thanksgiving. Thank you very much for the discussion, my dear friend.
