Why do members who post one line discussions earn as much as those who don't?

Isn't a discussion more than one sentence? - listen question answer

I've noticed a number of members discussions that are only one liners. They usually ask a question and end it with why? I would like to know how that is considered a "descriptive" discussion as it says to the left of this box! What do you think about these discussions? Should they be earning the same as those of us who write discussions that are actually discussions?

Well, I can tell you we don't get paid by the word that's for sure. If that were the case mylot wouldn't be able to pay everyone.

We do get paid somewhat by post but it has to be quality posting. You said paid by word which is not the case. We don't really know how they figure it out and we're not supposed to!

Do we know that they do? WE don't know how much anyone makes for anything that they do on mylot and i wouldn't think that everyone makes the same amount of money either. I don't even reply to the one liners often because I don't know if you even make money off of one liners that aren't making much money and... I don't really care about the money. I make $10 every month and that's all that matters to me really. I don't struggle and I don't go overboard and even so its not like it's ever gonna pay my bills.

I'm not absolutely sure if they do or not. You are right that $10 or so isn't going to pay my bills either it just helps me get by until my next paycheck.

I wish $10 made a difference for me!

I don't think they are getting as much as people who make a more in depth discussion. Mylot pays less for one liners (discussions starters or responders). They do get a little, but not as much as people who have better discussions. But, if a ton of people respond to a one line discussion than that will help their earnings increase.

I can't understand how a lot of people can respond to some of those discussions. There is usually nothing to say...for me anyway.

Yeah, I usually don't use my time to respond to a discussion when the user that started the discussion didn't even spend their time making it.

Yes, I believe discussions should be more than one liners, unfortunately we earn the same money whether we post one-liner discussions (something I never do)...or literal novellas (which is what I almost always do..LOL The same is for people who reply to our discussions...the ones who give one line responses..or worse, only one or two words.

I've noticed that the one word responses have become less and less. Could be that new members are reading the guidelines for a change!

I heard that the one liners get deleted at the end of the month and that many people avoid them because of it. I think discussions that have only one response will get deleted too. So they will end up losing their points once they get deleted. I don't like the one liners because i feel that they are just trying to get fast money and really don't care about the topic. Usually those people have many many discussions open and don't comment on them either. Just my opinion.

lol...I was responding to a one liner just to tell them that it would get deleted and guess what? When I went to put the tags in the discussion had disappeared! Fast work on mylots part huh?

I've wondered that too and I agree, a discussion is more than one sentence. Sometimes I don't understand exactly what the person is asking but I'll give it a try and answer it the best I could. It kind of irks me because there's no real question but a why. grrrr!

lol...sometimes I sit here staring at the "discussion" wondering what in the world can I say! Most times I can't think of a thing and just want to respond with something as dumb as the discussion!

I don't know if they do as much? To be honest, nobody here has worked out the exact formula for how to achieve maximum earnings on My Lot. Many My Lotters believe that a quality discussion will earn you more, & I am inclined to agree.

I know what you mean hon. I don't think that the one liner discussions should earn anything at all, to be honest. It clearly states in the guidelines that that is a big no-no. And it also shows that the members posting those types of so-called discussions just aren't taking the time or making the effort to post quality discussions.

I also feel that a discussion implies more than one line, ctry, so the members who are earning from this type of post must know something that we don't. Or it could be that their question is of the sort that is so thought-provoking that the answer itself requires a lot of discussion.

I could be wrong, but I don't think they earn very much. I've answered discussions asking how do we make money around here, I only made 10 cents and the person had 200 in parenthesis next to her namea and another one with 400+ who only had 8 cents. Not only do many of them ask a one-sentence question, they usually give that for an answer, too. So I tell them to write something more like try for four sentences and see if they earn more. About once a week one of those comes up and now people don't even respond to it very often because it costs us!

I can't stand it either. Though one-liners are paid less for start up, people answer those and shorter discussions much more (because its less reading and more posting). It is a bit of an insult since I have some quality responses and quality discussions but I only have a low star and supposedly equal or less earnings than oneliners.

The main aim of MyLot is to known their views regarding the questions or discussion that is present, they can send their views either in descriptive or in one sentence. But MyLot tells us to send as descriptive as possible. So we have to describe it in descriptive way.

I think people who post long and better quality responses should be paid higher. And mylot has done that. It foces people to give useful suggestions to others. I think someone just like me do not post long response on mylot because their languages are not English so it makes them hard to input 4 or more lines like native speakers. But it also gives me a good chance to practice English with native speakers. I like that.
