Which characteristic would you prefer in the next president; ability to stand up to bullies and have a spine; good with finances or the ability to be totally honest? As for me, I'd choose a candidate who has a spine and can stand up to bullies. And, there are lots of bullies in this present day world. If you get a wimp in office, you're just asking for trouble. It would be nice if that person could also be truthful. But, that might be asking too much. Don't get me wrong. I don't want any presidential candidate or public official lying to me. But, I guess a bit of dishonesty goes with the territory. You can't really share the whole truth with the masses without riots and unrest. And, it would be nice if he or she could balance the budget without cutting child health care or senior benefits. If I'm required to stick to a budget every month for my family's sake, then I don't know why the president shouldn't be able to do the same. So what do you think? Which characteristics are important to you when choosing a president? Honesty? Spine? Good under pressure? Ability to balance the budget without cutting benefits?

Someone who won't lie just to get his views and points across later, someone who won't throw us into a war that no one wants to be involved in, someone who isn't an idiot.

Can I choose all of the above? I think a president should be able to do all of the things you mentioned. Or if they don't, at least be willing to try.
