Does this happen to you? Because a while ago, I almost responded to a discussion. The title looked familiar so I checked it out first. Because I couldn't shake the feeling that I've already answered to that one.
Sure enough, there I was. I have already responded to that topic two months ago! Actually, I have someone on my friends list who answered twice on one of my discussions. At first, I thought, he just wanted to answer again. And now, I think he didn't know that he already gave a response.

Now, that was a sneaky one who copied your discussion. That's the big disadvantage of having the ability to copy and paste here. Like you, I also had one discussion deleted. It was rather a lengthy one and I spent minutes thinking of what words to type next. Fortunately, it only had one response before I found out that it got deleted.

From the number of your current posts, I completely understand you. I still haven't reached my thousandth post but sometimes I try to recall if I have already answered a particular discussion. Some of who have responded in my question, said the one thing to avoid making double replies, is to give that discussion the rating. In that way, we can be sure that we have already come across that specific discussion..

I get that kind of feeling too. You know, like I'm just seconds away from typing my reply but I get the feeling that I've already answered that particular discussion. Fortunately, after being a member of Mylot for six months, I still haven't done that double reply.

Yeah, it did happen to me several times especially friends’ old discussions with several pages of responses. To make sure that I don’t make such mistake again, I would now always try to check the whole list of responses before I make any posting for that particular discussion. Of course it would be ideal if I could squeeze into the first page of responses list. Then it will save me a lot of time in browsing through all the following pages.

hi ikbooi. Yeah, there are discussions that have endless list of responses!Fortunately, I was stopped from having to answer again twice. Because I couldn't shake off the feeling that I have already given a response to it.
Now, when I get that kind of feeling again, I do check out the responses first.

This never happened to me, since I always check out the responses first before I post my opinion. I also rate the topic itself, this helps me avoid posting again on that discussion. I also do my best to be one of those first responders on that discussions or if ever, be one of those who's posts are in the first and second page of the discussions, to easily check out if I already came to that post.
Familiarity and oresence of mind is what I always apply, when posting here to now waste time and effort by double-posting!;)

hi raijin. I always a rate discussion too. But sometimes, after rating it, my mind freezes up on me when I'm about to start answering. So, I end up leaving that discussion and looking for a new one. Fortunately, I had the feeling of being familiar with the title.
And I was saved from having to answer that particular discussion again twice.

This happened to me as well when I was responding to a discussion that was so familar to me and I still responded to it and later found that I was there already, but I was happy that I responded to it from a different angle. hehe.

hi william. nice to hear from you again. I know what you mean. Having to answer for the second time will be a lot different. New ideas and thoughts may be added up to that second response.

Oh yes it happened to me too, someone on Mylot once said that when you respond to discussions if you rate the persons discussion if you happen to come across it again you can tell if you have already responded to it! Seem to work in practice that way you don't double up! But yes I like countless other Mylotters have done it! Once I replied to a discussion and realized that three responses before mine was a previous response from ME! Talk about prize idiot or what!

hello wolfie. For the many responses we make, it's no wonder if we get to make a double response to a particular discussion. YOu know what, what happened to you, almost happened to me, too. But the only thing that stopped me from continuing to type was the feeling that the discussion was kind of familiar to me. So, because I'm a person who listens to my instinct, I checked the responses even if there were so many of them, and I saw mine.
Rating a discussion didnt't help me though at first. Because I had experience a particular period wherein I rated the discussion first, and when I was about to type my answer, my mind went blank. And I really didn't know what to say to that discussion. So, that was the only thing I did.

I think I've done that before too. There are so many discussions on here that I sometimes forget which ones I have responded to.

I understand what you mean. I'm on my more than 500 posts and trying to recall if I have already responded to a particular discussion, is somehow a bit of a challenge.

Yes, it happened with me on 4-5 occasions when I answered the same discussion, without checking if I had already done that. It actually does not fetch any additional earnings, if a post if replied twice.

You're right. Posting twice doesn't mean extra earnings. I guess, it's extra information.:)

Extra information is not always.
I remember I posted a reply to a discussion twice (of course after few days) but I found, I exprssed similar views on both the occasions.

Hello dear jcj. I am sorry to tell you that you are not alone there. I did the same thing in responding to the same discussion twice, but I am glad to tell you that I gave a different response to the same discussion. Also I have one of my friend's, who did the same thing. It is interesting, huh? Anyway thank you very much for your discussion, dear friend. Merry Christmas.

hi william! It's so nice to hear from you again. Now, it doesn't matter if you have responded twice in the same discussion. Because you gave two different opinions regarding the question asked. Happy Holidays!

I almost have...but not quite. When it feels oddly family I will scroll down the responses to see if my Avatar is there before adding to it. It could also have happened without my being aware of it too though. If the discussion was a couple of months past then I could see how easy it would be to double post.
Being the committed Mylotters we are and often we stay here so long we tire our brains I know from experience that there are times I do not feel too sharp by the end of the day.
Anyway, it happens and it is fun to read that others have had it happen in the past and that it will undoubtedly occur again.
So long for now my good pal...

hi raia. I do scroll down too when I feel that a particular discussion seem familiar to me. but sometimes, there are too many responses that checking each of one of them eats up a lot of time. So, either I still make a response to that particular interesting discussion or I just look for another new one. ^_^
