Do you think this was a bad thing for me to do?

I recently got a huge box of christmas decorations for free from a nice lady in my area and when I say huge I mean there are enough there to decorate two trees. Almmost everything is new in boxes except for a few that look like she made them. She is an Avon lady and there are at least 7 brand new Avon christmas decorations in the boxes included. They aren't really the type I would like on my tree. After looking at everything and deciding on how I will decorate my tree I decided that I would sell the Avon decorations on my ebay and ioffer auction sites. That started sounding sort of bad to me so I gave her an order for Avon (just to make myself feel better..lol). Do you think it is the wrong thing to do for me to try to sell some of the ornaments? Would you have done the same thing?

Christmas Bulbs - Christmas decorations....
I really don't see anything wrong with you selling them and if she is ok with it, it should be just fine. And it will make you some money for Christmas that is just right around the corner...GO for it and start selling them what else would you do with it other than storing them and everything...Good Luck

That's what I was thinking. They would just be put away somewhere since I didn't plan on using them anyway.

Wow! How nice of her. No it wasnt wrong of you. No worries because if you cant use them why not sell them. Im sure other people would buy them. And it was also nice of you to give her an order.

It really worked out well for me. I've been looking for an Avon lady in my area and there she was! I looked through the online catalog and ordered a couple of Christmas gifts! I'm thirlled with that!

I don't see anything wrong with it. She gave them to you, which means you have the free reign to do whatever you like with them. If you're not going to use some of them, especially if they may be worth money, you have every right to sell them or give them away is you want to. They are yours now. Do with them what you wish! I don't really think it warranted putting in an Avon order with her either. But if it made you feel better, then it's all good!

I am an Avon representative. HOW DARE YOU!!! JUST KIDDING.:P Actually, I see nothing wrong with doing this. She gave them to you, You should do with them as you wish. Some of Avon's decorations are realy cute and some just do not fit my taste. Some expensive...some not. I hope you can sell them and make some money from them. I would do it myself, but Avon frowns on selling their product in other venues if one is an Avon rep. You are not, so I don't see anything wrong with doing so. Happy Seling!! PEACE

This is more my taste in ornaments - box of ornaments
lol....ms. Avon rep...I really didn't like these particular ornaments. I admit they are very nice but I'm used to the old fashioned christmas decorations.

I don't think it was wrong of you. They were given to you, and you couldn't use them. She obviously did not want them r she would not have given them to you in the first place. I would have done the same thing if I were in your position. Nice of you to give her an AVON order, but I don't think it was necessary. I wouldn't feel guilty about it if I were you.

i don't think that there is anything wrong at all... she gives them to you so they are yours now... you can do anything that you want with them... if you think that they are not suitable and you are not going to use them, then you are more than welcome to sell them and you don't have to feel bad about it... otherwise, they will become junks in your house anyway...

no I think you are doing the right thing and I see nothing wrong with it, it was a gift to you and like the others have said you can choose what to do with the gifts If you want you can always use some of the money you make off of the items you sell and buy something else small from her . =)

Since I gave her an Avon order that I'm sure is more than I will get for the ornaments I think we are even.

You didn't do anything wrong hon. I think I probably would have done the same. She gave them to you after all, since she didn't want them. So they are yours to do with as you please. I think that it's really nice that you placed an order with her for Avon products...sort of a "trade" for the ornaments. So don't feel bad hon...enjoy your profits. LOL

Once she gave the items to you, ctry, they are yours to do with as you please. I see nothing wrong in making a bit of spending change off these items. You did not deceive the woman to get these things so you shouldn't feel bad. You have selected the items you want and need for your decorations, so that is that!

I really don't feel bad....any more. I spent much more on Avon than I know I will get from selling those ornaments.

I am very lucky to live in a community that has been so very thoughtful and generous to my family. There were times however we received items that we couldn't use. Mostly it has been meat products or clothing either that doesn't fit anyone or a style my picky 12 year old doesn't want to wear. Though I do give to other people or donate them. However if I did get something that was new or worth selling I just might do it too. I don't think they would feel bad if I did that because I would likely use the money for things I could really need or use.

If they sell and I hope they do the money is going into my paypal account that I use for my every day living to supplement my ssi check so it's not like I'm just selling them for no reason at all.

No not at all because if you're not going to use them, why not sell them so you can buy something else that you will use. Besides, once they're yours, it's yours to do what you want. I feel this way, when you give something to someone, it should be with no strings attached.

I have a different opinion on this than everyone else, so please no rotten tomatoes thrown my way! I don't think it was wrong for you to sell the ornaments, but I would have handled them a different way. Since they were given to you I would have passed them along to another family who may have been able to use them, allowing that family to get the benefits that were handed down to you. That is just my personal opinion, though. I don't think there is a wrong or right answer to this question. If something is freely given to you then you should feel free to do what you wish with it. I just like to be able to continue the blessing if I can. I hope that makes sense!

Actually, I had posted on freecycle for a christmas tree and this woman responded telling me she had the ornaments to give away. I give away a lot of things on freecycle in my town and know a lot of people from the site.

Traditional, old fashioned ornaments - christmas bulbs
Believe me if I thought someone in my family would have used them that would have been the first thing I would have done with them. The thing is my family is into the more traditional ornaments and I know for a fact none of them would have wanted these.

Please don't think I was judging your decision or saying you made a bad choice. Do you know if you have a freecycle in your area? You can post things that you want to give away, and others can post things that they have to get rid of. It's really kind of fun! Just in case you've never heard of it, you can check it out at freecycle.org

It wasn't a gift. I posted for a christmas tree on the freecycle site and she emailed me saying she had a box of decorations she wanted to get rid of....so I took them off her hands.

I think that she gave them to you, so you can do what you will with them, it is your good fortune to have thought to use your auction sites. But it was incredibly nice of you to give her an avon order.

I don't see anything wrong with wanting to sell them..as you say they are decorations that aren't your "type" and wouldn't use...so why not?? I looked at that cherub ornament...uh, definitely not something I'd want either..LOL

Hi ctry, If someone gives you something, it becomes yours. Since it is yours, you can give it away, use it, or sell it. The choice is yours. As the proud owner, you chose to sell something that you would not be using to some one else. The item in question is new and/or in very good condition, so why not sell it? Would you feel better if it was just sitting around creating more clutter around your home? NOT!! I feel that you have made a very wise choice to sell the item so that you would be able to acquire something that would be usefull to you. Congratulations on a good deal!! Happy posting..

I don't think I would feel bad. If you can't use them, then I don't see a problem auctioning them off and using the money for something you can use, like paying for your Avon order!

lol...I seriously don't think the money I get from them will even pay for that Avon order. She made out better than I did in the deal in a way. She now has a new Avon customer on top of it.
