well, it being Halloween, I had been invited to my friend, Vi's Halloween bash..Her get togethers are to die for....for the holidays, whether it'd be Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas she really goes all out and decorates her place fantastically.. The other folks, the regulars that show up at her parties are terrific, the food great, and the overall atmosphere is so inviting and warm, and cheery...I look forward to her parties every year and go...EXCEPT not tonight..DRAT I had been in a lot of pain with my arm on Monday, must have lifted or carried something the really wrong way, and pulled a muscle..so I took it easy, took painkillers, and had on one of those pain patches...The pain subsided and I was fine on Tuesday---but then when I woke up today...the same pain...I was trying to psyche myself up to go to the party anyway...but nope...just too much pain, and I just knew I couldn't be in a jolly good mood at the party...So staying home instead...BUMMER So has that ever happen to you? Maybe you were looking forward to some special event, or get together with friends, a party..whatever...then on the day/night of the event you were either sick as a dog or in pain from an injury?? Did it pi$$ you off? Did you get mad...I'm sure mad as heck!!

I'm sorry to hear you had to miss your party...sounds like it would have been alot of fun. At least you can look forward to Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's parties. Hope your feeling better. I'm not big on parties so I've never gotten really mad if I've had to miss one. "COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS" **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I'm not big on parties either, but my friend's ones are terrific...not too loud or noisy, no one gets rowdy..just a real good time. Will definitely go to her Christmas party though

Oh yeah I've had that happen to me and one sticks out of my mind the most, my cousin's wedding which I was suppose to be a part of but I was so sick that day that I just couldn't go. It was my monthly and I had such horrible times with it the first few days and come to find out I had a cyst the size of a newborns head and could've killed me. On the day itself, my cousin knowing the kind of pain I always went through on those times understood but was disappointed but understood completely. After years of having that kind of pain and 9 cysts 3 surgeries 2 laproscopies and endometriois 4 times, I finally had a hysterectomy. I thought I was free of the crap but then I was taking hormone pills in which now I know I still have endo so I stopped the hormone pills in hopes it'll get rid of the endo. Seems NEVER ending for me when it comes to this. GRRRRR!!

Your body basically took over and made you sleep. It'll do that when you're in need of it. And you're lucky to never have had any problems with your monthly. I should be so lucky! LOL Thanks for commenting on my avatar! :) Gotta go with the holidays if I can!

Aw hun *hugs* I hope you are feeling a bit better today. I missed out on a friend's party last year thanks to a really bad bout of flu. When I should have been dancing the night away, I spent the evening curled up in bed feeling very sorry for myself. What made it worse was the phone call I got from one of my mates at the party, just phoning me to let me know that they all missed me, but all I could hear was the party going on in the background. Boy was I fed up.

I am so sorry! I hope your arm is feeling better today. I know exactly what you mean - you look forward to something and then bam! Either I get sick or one of the kids do and we end up not being able to go. It's so frustrating!

Sending A Flower - Purple Petunia from My Porch
Poor dear! I am so sorry you couldn't go. I hope she at least saved you some of the food and brought it to you today. More than that though, I hope that taking good care of yourself has helped you to recover. I am so happy that you didn't push it just for "in the moment" fun. It's wonderful to be an adult and to actually know better than that. Feel better soon.~D

Aww...thank you for the flower. Yes, feel a lot better..not enough to do cartwheels yet though..hehe..I turned in early to bed last night and slept eleven hours total. Something I haven't done in decades, but I guess it was my body's way of saying just rest. Nope, she didn't save me any of the food :(

I am sorry to hear about your arm. I have been in that spot before. Last year when I fell and dislocated my right elbow in July, I was still in alot of pain and still have a half cast on and was not able to do much of the things that we did during the holidays. And then 4 years ago on Oct 31st I also fell that day and took a big hunk of skin out of my hand and had to have 8 stitches in it that was a real treat for passing out candy that year. I do hope that you get better soon. Loves!

Some things you just cannot help Pye. You had an injury that you need to take care of. If you went on to the party and were on pain meds you would need someone to take care of getting you home safely and that would have worried you to I'm sure. There is always the next party you can go to. Yeah, it would have upset me too but like I said you can't help it if you are in pain. Hope you feel better soon and are taking good care of yourself. Have a great day :)

Thank you..I did feel better today. I slept eleven hours! Yikes. Haven't slept that much in decades, but I guess I needed it. I don't think I could have enjoyed myself at the party. If I'm in pain I can't put on a front of being smiley. LOL

Hi pyewacket, That sounds like such a fun party, and I'm sorry you had to miss it. I trust your arm will be better soon. The one time that comes to my mind, happened a number of years ago. My friend and I had an escorted bus tour booked to Pennsylvania. I'd already paid for part of it. A few weeks prior to our departure, I had an accident, and dislocated my patella (kneecap), which left me in a 'stovepipe cast.' There was no way I could go on this trip, so my friend ended up taking her mother instead. Of course, I was reimbursed by her mother, for my portion, already paid, but I was very upset, and disappointed just the same.

This is a condition that I've had 'all of my life,' and so it's happened to me around 5 times, or so. The pain is excrutiating. Yes, I was very disappointed, as I love to travel, and did a lot of it 'in my heyday.':)

Hi pyewacket! Oh, that is so sad! I hope somehow myLot will give you company and make you feel a little bit better. I did experienced that before when I was so much young the, I was really looking forward to attend this party of my friend because she told me my crush will also be there. Oh, I am really looking forward to it and was so excited and nervous at the same time. I have shopped for a new dress and tried on different hairstyle so that I will look beautiful that night. But then, my father reminded me few hours before of the party that I am grounded for the week and I am not allowed to attend the party. It was my fault because I got a failing grade on my exam then. Well, I cried of course but it was my fault because I already knew that we can only enjoy weekend parties with friends as long as our grades are ok. Take care and have a nice day.

Hi pyewacket,im sorry to hear about your arm.Yes lasy year for New Years Eve we had planned to go out.I never go out but my boyfriend does and it doesnt bother me,but just this once i wanted to go to this special event. We reserved a babysitter for that night 2 weeks before and that day our daughter started feeling groggy.Later that afternoon she was nasty and tired alotI said oh no i think shes going to be sick.My boyfriend said oh she will be o.kBut that night half an hour before we were going to leave she became really sick and throwing up.I had to call at the last minute to cancel the babysitter because i wanted to stay home with her and take care of her.Thats the way i am,i have to be there when shes sick,i feel better when i am.The babysitter understood and she went out with her friends. My boyfriend went out for an hour but came back at midnight to wish me happy new year.My daughter developed the 24 hour flu, hahaha and threw up all night. That was the best New Years Eve i ever had, hahaha.I didnt mind:):):)I wanted to stay home anyway and she helped me. yep, several years ago.. family vacation at our favorite spot at the beach.. great beach, great fishing, even lucked up and got our favorite rental house at the last minute.. everyone could go, not a usual occurrence because all work healthcare or electric company or such and rarely get our vacations to coincide.. so there we are first morning after arriving night before.. eastern wind (not good fishing) so we decide to bike around the island, do some shopping, sightseeing etc. Well, you know the old saying about not forgetting how to ride a bike? Don't believe it!! Two blocks from the house, I slid in a puddle of water, boom.. yep broke the ankle.. lovely.. so there I am in a cast.. can't get in the water, can hardly walk.. can't do my favorite fishing (surf fishing, you are supposed to wade out in water to midcalf or knees).. not supposed to get sand in cast.. big bummer.. two weeks wasted, sitting at the house (nice house but hell, I can watch cable at home a lot cheaper right?). When I did go to the beach I had to put a plastic wrap on the damn cast (very attractive) and had to bottom fish, which means u throw your bait out, stick your rod in a holder and wait (pretty boring when all others are surf fishing).. no dancing at the bar.. no bike riding.. sure as hell couldn't walk.. no nuttin that I went there for.. I was supremely pissed for the whole two weeks and to add insult to injury? My share of the cost was around $500 PLUS the damn doctor, and believe me, tourist island docs do NOT work cheap lol.. I do hope your arm gets better sweetie. I hate you had to miss a great bash. We are home tonight and wouldn't you know it? Halloween night and there's not even a decent horror flick on tv.. So mom and I are pigging out on candy and watching dvds.. We shall have a hot chocolate in your honor, my friend. Feel better soon.

Yikes that is a bummer!!!...I'd be mad as hell myself with all that going on...I had something lousy happen when I was on a vacation too and this was years and years ago....It was the last time I was to go with my mom to Florida at DisneyWorld..we had been there before and always loved it...Well I was fine for the first day or so, then I got some kind of "bug" and was so sick the whole time, that most of the time I stayed in the room and settled in the bathroom...not a pretty sight...and Yikes, my mom was SO ticked off at me...like I had planned it..she kept saying how I ruined HER vacation..oh gee, that's nice..like hey my vacation was ruined too, and it wasn't like I planned it that way...but she acted like I did....She said she never wanted to go on a vacation with me ever again...okay..never did..LOL what DVD movies are your going to watch..I plan to watch Practical Magic later..kind of appropriate--it IS after all about witches...LOL--I'll probably be pigging out on the leftover candy myself..have Reese's Peanut Butter Cups...yum :)

That really sucks you had to miss the party!! Yeah I've had that happen a couple of times. It really does suck. We've even had to miss some when my hubby gets sick or what not. That sucks too. I hate it when it does happen but at least its rare...especially as we don't go out much either :)

I had such a major cold one time that while I went to a science fiction convention, I missed the costume contest & about half the con because I was so sick with a cold. This is the same cold that affected me for 3 months & I was on 3 different antibiotics

Well, it turned to bronchitus before 4 days were out and I just couldn't kick it. The doctor suggested that I needed to take off work, but I told him that I was proving a point that I was really sick - and I was only taking off for doctor's appointments or if I was running a fever - like I did at the end of the 1st week - and my boss was ready to deliver her 2nd son.

Yep, that happened to me, the day of my big family reunion. I was a little disappointed, but not alot, because there were so many people that I hadn't seen in years, and I was nervous, anyway. If it had just been my usual family reunion, with my aunts, uncles, cousins, in the first level, I wouldn't have minded going so much. But that yucky sinus infection was that little extra something that kept me home that day.
