Do you want to be female and a driving instructor, or a driving instructor for females?

It's probably the case that the independent instructors have lower overheads than the BSM. Or that they deceive themselves about their overheads (ie many of them probably don't properly cost the time they spend doing their accounts and tax returns as "time spent working", and thus con themselves about what effective hourly rates they're charging
