When keeping in mind hackers, spyware, and viruses, use Linux. Spyware and viruses find Linux a hostile environment. Hackers, that is a matter of keeping your Linux security up to date and your passwords current. There are distros of Linux created with security in mind. Windows is a bit of a joke.

Thans boss i have down loadded ubuntu and it works great now i need to know how toset it up as my internet server any advice?

I agree with everybody. You should go for Linux. Or you should try OpenBSD. I suggest that either you use Window$ or Linux, you must have a firewall.

you guys have been verg good in showing me the way to go.. i will have a look at linux and test ... experiment and i hope it is not as hard to learn like unix or dos... with a blank screen where you have to give the commands. lol how i hated dos in the begining i typed "start" at the prompt coz i did not know what else to do and i got.... bad command or file name... lol :-) thanks again

Well its LINUX no doubt about it. But generally Solaris is best for the purpose.
