Sitting here next to my tv I just heard the news about hurrican Noel. Since I live right on the Eastern Coast I'm always worried when I start hearing about these things. I have to admit it's been quite a few years since we have experienced a real bad hurrican or tropical storm here but when it comes to weather we just never know do we?
If you're interested check out the link I'm adding to this discussion. It contains a lot of information and tracking of Noel and for me is very interesting!Do you live in an area that experiences Hurricanes? Do you get worried when you start to hear news of them?Check out this interesting site:

Yes, I live in Florida, and everybody always worry about hurricane, I am also, but not much... the thing is anytime I am here so far I did not see any hurricane... so it is like false alarm... they say is coming, is coming... and then suddenly the hurricane take another path... and well you always can go somewhere else, beacuse they tell you in advance when is coming, not like earthquakes that you never now when they are coming...

Oh yes I worry very much! Hubby and I lived in Texas and we've seen and been through A LOT of tornatos and hurricanes and we pray we don't see anymore. Not only that, I, myself, have been through 5 fires in my life and hope to never go through that ever again either. That is a awesome website! Thanks for sharing it! I've saved it to my favorites so I can view it again. I'm a little bit inland, just where we wanted to be in hopes we don't have to experience those awful things again. Enough is enough. I don't understand how the people in Florida stay on the coastal areas after all the hurricanes they've been through. They've truely have guts. Much more than I have, no doubt. Granted, a lot moved but a lot stayed too. I'd have ran for the hills as fast as my car could take me and stayed there! lol

Yup, Texas can get it all and pretty bad at that! I agree with you about living in Florida and you're welcome for the link to the site. I thought it was very interesting.

We rarely ever get hit here...Hurricane Agnes in June of 1972 was the last time I know of that was actually really bad beause of a hurricane. But if Noel tracks just a little farther west, or curves in west after going around the Carolina's, we could be in some trouble.
The only thing that really worries me where I am now is the power being out for a long time or trees crashing onto the house. We are up on a hill so we wouldn't really flood any more than we normally do. But if the power goes out, we don't have a generator and everything but the furnace runs on electric. Worrying about trees falling is pretty self explanitory!

I remember Agnes and it was quite the storm wasn't it? I worry about all the same things that you do and we don't have a generator in our building either.

I use to live in Samoa and from November-Feb was hurricane season. During the six years I was living there I only experienced being in one and even though it wasn't as bad as the others, it still was scarey. We lost power for a week, and just had enough supplies to get us through.

I can only remember experiencing one really bad hurricane in my life and I was about 9 years old at the time. A tree came through my parents bedroom window and right on their bed!

I don't live near the coast anymore but my mom does. She lives in the southeastern part of Florida so she is going to get some bad weather from this one. She's not too worried about it though. She called me last night and told me by time it makes landfall where she is it's only going to be a category one. She's not even going to bother putting up her hurricane shutters.
I lived down there with her and went through hurricanes Frances and Jeanne. That was not a fun year and part of the reason I decided to move back up north. The year my daughter was born hurricane Wilma came through my moms area. Luckily she was up here visiting me when it happened but she did have to deal with some damage when she got back home.

I have never lived in Florida but know some people who have moved there and then come back just because of the weather there.

We do not get hurricanes in the area where I live, ctry, but I always feel concern when any area is threatened by one. I have long wanted to visit Florida, but the thought of hurricanes there frightens me. I have friends who just got back from there. I will keep you in my thoughts and hope that the storm blows itself out before it has a chance to reach you.

I know many people who moved to Florida and came back home because of the weather there. I guess it's true that "the grass is always greener" huh?
