Do you remember the man who froze outside the White House gates in Washington D.C.?
He was a decorated veteran of the war. Don't you think our government should be taking care of these men who served in the war and are now unable to work because of their disabilities? Physically and mentally?
I for one can not believe the way they are treated. I have seen dogs live a better life. This is abuse coming from the higher ups....isn't there a law against this kind of abuse?
I am feed up with our government treating them as if they were nobodies. If it wasn't for them where would our country be? Or would we even be a country? Where do you stand on this issue? Don't you think our war veterans deserve a better life.

I believe anyone in this country who doesn't have money is being treated very wrong and unfairly, but at the top of the list is the Veterans. These are the people that fought for our safety and freedom. They have lost limbs, health, some even lives for us, but yet when they return, they have nothing to show for it. They end up homeless because they can't work. The least the government could do is set up some kinda separate social security for vets, since the one we have has been pulled to the limits. But I forgot, all the money that can be used for that is going into the non-war in Iraq, which will make plenty more helpless vets to roam the streets when this is finally over.

Hi Kowgirl,
I agree with you whole heartedly on this! Especially if they had been drafted with no option to join or not. Many were forced into the military and sent to fight for our country. I think they should be well compensated for their bravery and hard work. Funny how people still serving, who are able to serve are very well off. Those who cant serve anymore, who were given honorable discharges are living in the poor house on their own SS benefits, with little money given to them for being enlisted.
I dont know the whole gist of it all, but I do know that you would expect a soldier to be cared for by their government, especially after being disabled by war. I was one who thought that the government took really good care of them after the fact, and I was shocked to learn that they didnt. They sure make the military sound like a great plan of action for the rest of their lives to be secure and educated. What good is that education if your missing your arms and legs or your sanity?
