My family served in WW2, we are classified as Japanese, we fought against the Nazi who were together with Japan as the Axis Power, so we are so-called Japanese American, canyou imagine brother fighting against brother? This is what happen in America and soon will happen to Taiwan, Shang Kai Sheck was a dictator like Chairman Mao, these are two brothers, the same thing happen between North and the South of US, and in the Bible, Jacob and Esau, there will always have brother against brother. Mainland China has more subs and ships to blow US out of the water, they also have the biggest Army, US will not help Taiwan, they already trade with Mainland China, too much money is invested in China and not Taiwan, Taiwan has no chance to win a war, they will surrender, they have had their time to make money with the world, they will be like Hong Kong surrender to China. Mainland China is very patienct they know in time they will take over Taiwan, Japan will do nothing, they have not been able to defend themselves since WW2 The sureender of the Japanese has created a mind set that they don't believe in War, they depend upon US upon the conditions of surrender, they may flex their muscles but China knows they can invade Japan any time. Japan is just a Paper Tiger, no teeth.

Japanese people have had a change of mind set from WW2, they do not believe in going to war, after the Bombs fell, they were devestated, I have talk to the Japanese, for years they have depended upon US to defend them, in fact their Constitution prohibt them from military expansion. As far as repenting for attacking people, two things are going on, one they feel shame in taking on the world, second they don't want to pay reparations to China, Korea, South East Asian, and as far as US, they feel that they were embargoed and could not get the natural resouces, so they attacked, which they admit was a huge mistake, and then US dropped the bomb which ended the war, they no longer felt like fighting back, China has nothing to worry about Japan's military, even if they used their money to buy arms, they would still need the economic trade with China, this is too an issue with US and China, we need the Chinese market. Japan has changed from WW2, they no longer want to fight, after US bomb them they built the finest steel mills in Japan, which led to manufactory of Cars which US cannot compete with, so Japan is having problems with the economy and are more transfixed on money than aqcisition of territory.

i don't think so. japan is the biggest threat to china now.why i said that? coz on first hand, japan is the biggest economy only second to US, and it can convert its money into weapon anytime, even a,h-bomb. on another hand,it never say sorry to its past evils, which show it will do the same mistake in the fufure.

i really dont agree with your mind.as we know, some facts have proven that" one country, two systems"does not apply to taiwan.it's hopeless for peaceful solution.for japan,in my opinion they dont confess from WW2 and always against china everywhere in the everytime.dont forget, japan have a stronger navy and air force than china!!!it's really a tough problem

Rookiekan, As an american, the japanese hurt us deeply durring WWII, and we did the same, yet today our 2 countries enjoy a great relationship both in government and people. Back durring the american revolution, there was deep hatred between us and England, yet today they are one of our best allies in the world. As for Taiwan, is it really so horrible for china to allow them to exist on their own? Would it not be good for china to learn Taiwan's success and apply these lessons to governing china? Taiwan has enjoyed great success as an independant democratic nation, I would think China would see this and want to apply some of the ideas to it's own society and re create the same success with in it's own nation. Would china's pride truly be so hurt by letting go and admitting that they are human and like the rest of us, can always learn something.?

I feel China's official propaganda may have over- emphasized the hatred between China and Japan. As I know, many china youths are taught that the Japanese are our blood feud from their childhood. The relation between China and Japan isn't well even in today, and China,as well as Japan has its responsibility. And I think its time to reduce the hatred, not to increase anymore. Maybe the history of being invaded by a neighbor country,or a former vassel country ,has so deeply impressed this once powerful and now a developing country. It's hard to change the hared in recent years. I have a view. The most important thing for china today is to develop the economy and technology, not to quarrel. If China then had had a top-level military and weapons ,it should not be invaded by any countries.Just like America at that time,it was factually only attacked by the Japanese, and soon brought them home.I hope government can realize this problem objectively and naturally. Its sad that China is only a developing country by now. When the neighbor countries, such as SKorea,Japan, Singapore, and the districts of Taiwan,HongKong,Macao are all developed ones.

nini, So if I understand you correctly, china wants to keep Taiwan geographicly, but will leave Taiwan's political structure in place and let them continue to govern themselves democraticly?

The battles between these two countries span hundreads of years. When China was ruled by the Mongrols, the Mongroles sent many warriors to Nipon (Japan) and other islands like Okinawa. Japan remembers this as a Chinees invasion though, In WWII the Japanes Army did many atrosities to both white and red China with their Manchurian allies most notably what has been called "The Rape of Nanking", they thought of this as pay back. The problem is today that unlike American Schools who teach that diferences can be over come. The Asian countries lke the middle eastern countries teach their children to hate, so new generations grow up hateing people who have never harmed them. If all were to teach peace, what kind of world would we live in thirty years from now? We would have Japanes and Chinees peoples injoying a soccor game with each other hosted by the US, and Arab boys and Jewish Boys hanging out at a pizza parler splitting the cost of a pizza.
