Did your children experience cradle cap? If so, what did you do to help get rid of it? My daughter is alittle over two months old and it has finally made it's appearance. I'm not nexactly sure what to do to get rid of it, my oldest daughter didn't really have any!

I used baby oil and a baby comb to get it off of my second son. It works very well. Just put a little oil on there head and gently pick at it with the comb. Also you can do it after a bath so that the scalp is moist and warm.

Thank you for your time and response, I really appreciate it! How often should I do these baby oil treatments? Every day?

If its really bad do it twice a day. If its not so bad once a day. It should eventually clear up. If you see it come back use the baby oil and comb again.

Yeah, that's what I was told today by her peditrician. She said to use it once a day and use a fine pick comb after I rub it on her scalp. I hope this works because it looks really uncomfortable for her!

My son didn't have it very often when he was a baby. When he did i put a few drops of baby oil in his bath and put abit on his head where he had the cradle cap and it worked very well and fast too. ~Joeys wife

Cradle cap in medical terms is known as Seborrheic Dermatitis. My doctor has recommended bathing the baby daily and applying hydrocortisone cream 1% (has to be prescribed by a doctor) twice daily to the skin rashes in the face, eyebrows, and behind the ears.A steroid lotion was applied to the scalp. The rashes disappeared in 3 days time. I highly recommend that you perhaps have to consult your doctor for these topical medicines.

well my friend cradle cap can be very ugly sometimes even though it's not harful to your child. For stubborn cases some parents find an oil remedy helpful. The oil helps to loosen dry flakes. If you want to give it a try, just rub just a small amount of a pure, natural oil such as almond or olive oil on your baby's scalp and leave it on for about 15 minutes. Then gently comb out the flakes with a fine-toothed comb or brush them out with a soft brush.this works very well and you can comb the babies head,it won't hurt them.i had to do this to 3 of mine.it's not like you are gonna vigoursely comb the hair so hard that it's gonna bleed,so by all means comb the hair gently, they will be just fine.

I always used baby oil to get rid of cradle cap and tried to avoid using soap or and creams on the head area. I was pretty lucky my son only got a couple of slight cases of cradle cap.

I am going to argue something everyone has said - DO NOT comb your child's hair - you don't want to pick it off, it's attached to the scalp & will hurt if you scrape it off with a comb. There's a product i used called 'Egozite' it's designed to loosen the cradle cap & then you can pull it out once it's detached from the scalp so you WONT cause any pain. I've heard Baby Oil can help but you need to massage it in to the scalp. Once you've done that, let it sit a bit, wash baby's hair & then gently wipe the scalp with a face washer/flannel. Good luck but remember DO NOT comb at it, pick at it or anything like that, just don't try & remove it with your fingers or anything unless it's detached from the scalp.
