Have you ever been mad at your cat?

Last week, my big cat scratched my little kid. It wasn't an accident either. He went out of his way to scratch her on the leg. And, ever since then I've been really mad at the cat. The big cat has been under stress since we got a new kitten. But, really that's no excuse for scratching a child. Why do cats do that kind of thing? It's not as if she's new. What was he thinking?

There's no telling why animals do the things they do...kind of like ppl at times. It may have simply been a scent of another cat on the child. "COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS" **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Once in w hile I'M mad at one of my cat. My youngest cat (he,s 3 years old)do things that he's not allow sometimes and I get mad at him. I'M never mad really long because he never did something really bad. I just can,t wait to see how he will react with a child ...

Yes, cats do things like that. Sometimes, they have no other way to tell their humans to leave them alone, that they are too stressed out or uncomfortable or in pain. I'll give you an example. When my Tabitha was ill, she hid behind the stove or in the closet and resisted my efforts to get her out. She cried loudly (most likely from pain) and tried to scratch and bite me. I understood and tried to handle her gently, but she didn't know that or want to know. Here's another example. When I try to kiss my Columbus, he wiggles away after I ignore his growling. Once or twice, he tried to scratch me, and if he did, I couldn't get mad at him. I deserved that. And when I first got Mimi, I couldn't go near her. She screamed bloody murder (out of fright and stress) and tried to hit me with her paws. Had I insisted on forcing her to be friendly, I would have been bitten. The cat simply acted out of fear and fright. Leaving her alone in peace and quiet would have been the best and right thing to do. So cats don't act out of malice. They have very good reasons, usually, for being aggressive.

I think that it is from the stress of having a new kitten at home that made the big cat misbehave like that to the little girl. It will be ok in a few more days when it is used to the newcomer.
