I do appreciate British rulers in certain areas where they had given India their worthy contributions in development. Even the constitutions we have now, the buildings and other construction works, education, even those constructions by Indian are not withstood compared to those of British. They also preserved and safeguarded those valuable monuments, ancient and historical valued constructions. During that their rule more capable Indians raised. Many had quality educations even thou not in India but from foreign countries. After independence it is seen that India and Pakistan parted, Indian caste and religion systems and fights on that, riots, police brutality, terrorism, corruptions, so on…. Hope India had done a big mistake by getting rule from British. Still it is said “Mera Bharat Mahan” Please share your views.

I think, we need to analyse where things went wrong exactly. I guess the British did far more than what they could have done. And hadn't the British invaded India, we would have never been one country and we would have never been called as Indians. We were never a single country before the British invasion. There was no concept at that time. We were fighting amongst ourselves and our society was blinded by caste, religion, community and sect and inequality towards women. So many other things which needed to be taken care of. Hadn't the western colonization happened, then we wouldn't have been where we are today. But the British Empire was far more efficient and it's true. There was less corruption then than what it is now. Even my Guru Shri Pattabhi Joise who's 93 told me his experience during the days of the British rule. He said there was hardly any corruption then. And still we were divided in our minds with religion, caste and language even after the British left our country and we blame it on them for bringing this division. But no, it is our leaders who divided the country. And not only that, they also divided our country into states based on language which is a very stupid thing to do. That creates more discrimination and differences among people. In the south, Karnataka fights with Tamil Nadu, and then Kerala fights with Karnataka and Assam fights with West Bengal and Manipur has it's own problems. We should have never divided our country based on language and regionalism. This has only created more communalism. But let's hope there will be a new generation which will look beyond all this and create a new India which would be more spiritual in it's look and let's hope we go back to our vedic past. :)

Hi, I too agree with you. There are some our valuable arts that are getting vanished and rarely people come forward. But another aspect that is to noticed is foreigner interest in Indian arts and culture. In our State we could see many of them working hard to learn those arts like Kathakali, Kuchiputti,Mohiniattam, Chenda, Nagasurams (these are traditional arts) and even Kalaripayattu (martial art of Kerala). Even now India has that valuable arts but rarely is it given a proper importance by the authorities. Thanks for your responds and also a +++.

Thanks for choosing. I totally agree with you. Cultural art must never die. That's what I believe in. We must preserve these ancient forms, because they were created for the spiritualism of life.

The British rule has been good as well as bad for us Indians.Good in the sense that they brought about development in a lot of areas.Like they were the ones to start the now worlds largest network of ralways.Bad because they plundered all the wealth of india. For example the famous Kohinoor diamond was taken away from here.So there are good and bad to it.its quite debatable.

Hi, May be those good things done has to given a price, lets hope that diamond as a price. Still may be not too. Any how the partition part when Mr.Mohammed Gina and Mr. Nehru has done with the support of Briton may be I hope this decision could have changed if Gandhiji's words were given important and also hope Gandhiji did not fell into any British tricks. Any how if not parted I hope India with Pakistan would have become one of best country.

Well lets see what british rule has given us ! The concept of partition came from british rule. British policy was divide and rule . We could see that way back when we didn't even started to think of independence in 1905 bengal partition based on caste. Formula of india and pakistan was suggested by british rule. And i would say its a big myth that british rule united india into one country . Britishers had given freedom to all 500 princely states to choose there own fate. They could have stayed as independent states. It was Sardar vallabh bhai patel's efforts that brought india together. Also i guess seeds of curruption were sown during those days itself. Current indian beurocracy is based on britich framework , current indian education system is based on british framework ? Well you say they had given worthy contributions to india , but i guess they have taken away much more than those contributions ! they ruled us for 300 years ! and do you think all the tax collected and treasures looted during those time were used for indian welfare ! i don't think so .
