I have an old bachelor uncle. He lives with us. He is cranky, selfish, scrooge, hard-headed, pig-headed... and we are running out of patience because he always asks for money from us cousins. We can't kick him out of the house because he has no family of his own. Any advices on how to deal with this kind of problem?

Have him join a support group for single older men. So he can make friends. Ask all the relatives to chip in and send him on a mini vacation. Maybe he is cranky because he feels bad emotionally and needs love. Good luck. I can't imagine the stress you are going thru.

oh...I am so sorry in that case. Try some Audio books...sometimes that can take someone away. A good pair of headphones a cd player and a good book on cd. That's what I would do. I look for creative things to do. I took care of both my grandparents until their passing day. I kept them busy with puzzles, don't laugh ..but even macaroni and some string to make decorations. Christmas is coming and maybe he would like to do something with his hands. Or let me suggest YOU take the break...my heart is with you...good luck and God Bless you for taking care of him. Sometimes we are given these tasks and we just don't know why it's up to us to fulfill. But you are doing a good thing.
