Philippine Jeepney - philippine jeepney
I'm not also a native speaker of english. I'm from the Philippines. But I practice my English by reading english books and magazines, watching english movies. I can also practice my English through mylot. I always post replies to discussions. I think my English gets better and better. So, I suggest you can practice your English with the help of mylot. Try to post replies to discussions that you are interested with. You can also read other people's discussion. By reading their discussions, there are times that you can check their grammar if it's correct or not. And sometimes you can also learn from discussions. I hope my advice will help you improve your English.

I like reading the discussions of someone who is not a native speaker. I am a fan of foreign accents and I almost imagine the accent as I'm reading the discussions. You'll get there Silvana! I think you're sweet! And gorgeousdreamer, you sound like you're doing a fantastic job. I can barely tell!

Morning aaidjs. I am not a native-English speaker, either, but I love English and consider it the most beautiful language and I love to use it every day for more practice to improve my English level in all directions, like listening, speaking, reading and writing. And Mylot is a very nice platform for me to practise my written English and helps make my mind more active in English. I think that it is quite ok for us to make some mistakes in spelling and grammar as it is not our native language. Even in our native language, we can still make some mistakes. So just feel good about it, my dear aaidis friend.

English is the only language I speak. I would never laugh in someones face for making a mistake when trying to speak english. I admire people that can try their best to take on another language.

English language is just about a second and/or third language in my country, I was really hesitant first to join here since I worry abut the words I'm about to use here. But thankfully, people and mylot members somehow appreciated my effort to learn. I'm still learning, but somehow is more confident now as long as people from english speaking countries understands what I was trying to convey..

Well, aaidjs, your english is far better than my Croation, lol. Language can be a barrier I agrea. But some things are universal. A smile, A handshake, a nod. Most people understand a language barrier and if your feeling uncomfortable, the other person probabl is too and is just as understanding about it. I travel through quebec canada quite abit and it is getting harder and harder to find english speakers there. I remember m struggles to even try to order a coffee. I learned a little bit of broken french and most people were flattered when I attempted to speak their language and were very helpfull. We laughed at some of my mistakes but it was all in good nature and didn't really bother me.

Even though your English may not be perfect, you nice personality comes out right away. If we smile, it is with you, not at you! I do murder other languages when I try to speak them, so that makes me pretty tolerant of others, especially nice others like you.

My husband's mother didn't speak English as her first language... when we first met, we would both get embarassed by the slip-ups. But over the years we realized that it didn't matter, and we would laugh and help each other to understand. She was the most wonderful friend I have ever had, and language had nothing to do with how much we loved each other.
