The Dog and The "N" word (Long Discussion)

Dog - Duane "Dog" Chapman

Dog's son Tucker Chapman sold a tape of a private conversation between him and his father Dog to The National Enquirer. The tape was of an apparent heated conversation about Tuck and his girlfriend and the "N" word slipped out on several occassions....Now Duane "Dog" Chapman's show in its fifth season and one of A&E's top-rated programs, has not been canceled until and investigation is done in the matter..... My question is why does an investigation need to be done? It was a private conversation that his son used to make money and The Dog did not believe it would be in the public spotlight. Why are African Americans allowed to through around the "N" word and not get in trouble? I listen to some rap music and ever 5th word was the "N" word..... even Black comediens use it often in their preformaces. And the word the use for us doesn't offened us so what the problem? It goes to the old saying; Sticks and Stone may break my bone, but name will never hurt me.... http://edition.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/11/01/dog.chapman.ap/index.html http://edition.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/09/29/showbuzz/index.html

I personally do not use use the "N" word. It is just not in my vocabulary but I think there is way to much hoopla about this word. There are way too many other things to get bent out of shape about than a word which is commonly used within the black population. It also goes to the old saying "Do as I say not as I do"

If the Black community feels it is such a bad word they would not be using it. THe only reason I find they get all bent out of shape when a white person uses it is because they have lost the control over something....It is something that belongs to them and only them that all and it is something they want total control on. A word is a word.

The guy admitted in that messge to his son, that what he does is an act. Someone who turns themself over to God don't talk like that. He might be fooling you with his act but he isn't with me and definitley not with God. the guy is a fake and I always had the feeling. sorry that you actually thought somethign fo this guy.

let me tell you something, all this guy ever does is talk "God" this "God" that and he is one of the most hypocritical, fakes I have seen on tv. His wife is even worse than him. I can't stand watching this show and whenever I see it I turn the channel. A&E makes Dog look like he is some kind of action hero, when in reality he stands at a measley 5'7 and has the heart of a roasted marshmallow. I don't care what this guy does with his life, and when he was going through all those trials, I was hoping he would get thrown in prison. As you can see I hate the guy with a passion and form the sounds of it his own son does too. Dog the fake bounty hunter

I have never watched the show with "Dog" I didn't even know who he was until this became a news item. My response was my opinion to the use of the "N" word regardless of which white person used it.

Aww, whatsa matter? Have you had a hard life and haven't made the most of it? Are you angry because you're not on television? That's right, lets hope a man who captured a wanted date rapist and murder when no else could goes to prison. Lets hate a man who put his own life and family on line to bring peace to others. Get a life. Quit bashing Dog. He does awesome work and deserves every second of air time he gets.

First of all, let me say that the National enquirer is not a news source! They will write any story which they feel will sell and if they have a tape I would be surprised. Dog has now fallen victim to the press and media. We all know that anything that is printed in papers like that can't be trusted 100%. as far as the "N" word goes, I hear blacks use it all the time and no one says anything about it. I don't think that it is right to punish him if he did say it. I think we need to worry about other things that a word.

i agree. It is a word and the guy should not be racked over hot coals for using a word heard every day in music and comedy. Let it go people. If a word is that dangerous than maybe blacks should ban all whites to Nigeria where one of their province/states is the N word.. Something isn't jiving here people... http://130.86.80.251/~sac43861/pato/nigeria4.gif

I think it is unfortunate that DOG used the N word in his conversation. I think it is horrible that his own son would not only tape his father but sell it for profit. i like Dog's show I hope they dont cancel it.He needs to apologize to the girl. Face to face not through the tv clips. Hopefully the family can come together and mend.

I am surprised that the word came out of his mouth. I don't think it's right to use the word, at all. It's just a really bad word. I thought he was a wonderful person. I'm disappointed, and yes, I think a little less of him for saying it. However, what bothers me, is the fact that it was in a private conversation, and it's now big news. Everybody says stuff, in the privacy of their home, sometimes, that I'm sure they're not proud of. I know, I say things sometimes, in anger to my husband, that I feel horrible about later. The thought that someone would record a conversation between us, and make it public, is very upsetting to me. In our own homes, we should have privacy, and be allowed to do, and say anything we want, as long as it's not illegal. I would be much more concerned about this whole mess, if he said it out in public. He's not perfect, nobody is. There is such a thing, or there used to be, freedom of speech. You should at least have it in your own home. If one of my children did something like that to me, they'd be very lucky, if I ever spoke to them again. I think his son should be ashamed of himself. For better or worse, that's his father, and you should respect your elders.
