Help, I am breastfeeding and my 12 week old daughter refuses to take a bottle. I keep trying and she keeps screeming. I would really like to go out with daddy for a night. We have 3 kids now and I need a break. I have tried different nipples, I've tried having him feed her while I hide, it doesn't work. I went back to work for one day and she only drank an ounce all day. So I am now a stay at home mom. If anyone has any suggestions please share.

Unfortunately, it's a hard one. I was lucky, my milk supply dried up & we had no choice but to put our daughter on a bottle, she took to it perfectly! Definitely try the cereal in the bottle, a new taste might encourage her to drink it - you could try different bottles or just go out & buy a teet from different brands, she's bound to get the idea & might take to one. My sister in law found that her son would only drink from a wide mouth bottle with the bigger teets & then there are the ones that kind of bubble at the top - that might help a little too. Good luck with that - she will get the idea soon enough but just keep presisting & everything will work out!

That's what happened with my first two kids. I was working and I couldn't pump enough and it just dried up. This time I waited too long to try the bottle. Thanks for the advice!

If she is 12 weeks old-maybe a little cereal in her milk would interest her-you might even try to put some on the nipple at the tip then give it to her. If that works mix a little in with her formula and put it in a feeder that has a nipple attached to it and give her some. Just be careful that she can take it without it being too hard on her stomache. You might ck with your pediatrican first-but this is what I did at that age with my youngest and it worked when he wasnt happy with the bottle. Good luck

hey maybe i'll try that. I used to put cereal in my son's bottles because he spit up all the time, my doctor recommeded that so it should be ok. Thanks
