Finding out doctors credentials

Is there a way to find out a doctor's credentials? I was diagnosed with a symptom resulting in a car accident and was given two choices. Take migraine medicine or get a nerve block in my neck. I decided to go with the nerve block. In order to get that done I have to go to the Headache and Pain Center. After being excited about finally getting a cure for what I have, my excitement turned to mortal fear. I saw on television a doctor who had 4 malpractice suits against him for damaging patients neck and back and he got a job at a Headache and Pain Center close to where I live. Knowing I need to get this treated and dealing with enough quack doctors who outsource the real doctors, is there a way that I can find out how a doctor's education and credentials are? I need to know because the treatment I need to get is very crucial to the way my life will be.
