A week ago, I had the opportunity to attend our family reunion. It was also a birthday party for my aunt, who just happened to be turning 90! And let me tell you....the woman doesn't look a day over 65. Anyway, it was so much fun seeing cousins, aunts, and uncles, that I hadn't seen since my dad passed away almost 16 years ago. Of course, my sister was there with her youngest daughter. And I rode to the party with my brother and his wife. It was all one great big hug-fest. And the conversation flowed as much as the wine did. LOL! I had a few glasses myself, and boy did I feel it the next morning. But it was soooo worth it! I'm hoping to take my daughter to visit my aunt and uncle soon, as she did not get to go because there was a very limited amount of seating.
So here's my advice to all of you: if you have relatives that you have not seen in forever and a day, please try to make it a point to at least get in touch with them if possible. You never know how long you have with them, and putting it off may turn out to be a mistake.
Hugs to everyone! Love you all!

wow, that sounds so interesting. I have never had a family reunion. Sounds like you had a really good time. That is something I want to look into for my family. Thank you!

Most of the family that had to work actually requested the next day off so that they could stay and enjoy the party. My hubby didn't do that though, and boy was he tired after work the next day. He fell asleep on the couch as soon as he got home. I hope you have as much fun at your reunion as I did at mine hon. Thanks for the wonderful response.

I'm glad you had fun my dear! Didn't I say it would be great. Many family reunions are so fun, and you get to catch up on a lot! And grats to your aunt on turning 90 but looking like 65. I say, get your vitamins and minerals, get in physical activity everyday little by little, laugh and smile when you can. I don't know if that's how your aunt did it, but I'm sure its at least one path to being long-lived.
Until next time Ms Katlady!

Hey sweetie! Yes, you sure did tell me that it would be great. And you were so very right. I was very amazed when my brother told me that my aunt walks for four miles EVERY day. She doesn't have very good vision when looking straight ahead, but she uses her peripheral vision quite well. Plus she was born and raised there so she knows the area like the back of her hand. And my uncle, who is 92, still drives the tractor (power steering of course), and plays golf 3-4 times a week. I think it's all that exercise and the clean mountain air that does it for them. By the way....all your advice is paying off. I've started taking my vitamins again, doing light to moderate exercise each day, and cutting way back on the sweets and junk food. I've lost 6 lbs. in 2 1/2 weeks! Still going for the surgery though...but at least I'm getting healthier during the waiting period! Thanks so much my wonderful friend.

Well,I think it's so nice to have a family reunion cause usually all the family members are busy with working or studying or sth else. We seldom have time to get together. So it's nice to have a reunion to gather everybody and chat with each other about recent life and the things alike. My family members usually get together during big festivals and I feel it's good to see them and talk with them!

We have family reunions atleast once a year. I'm part of a BIG family and it's fun to meet (whatever the occassion) and my dad makes sure we have an excuse to meet the whole family (wherever we are). My sister is getting married next month and the whole family is going to be there.
My husband's family never gets together to meet and we can hardly get all of them together at one spot. I wish they would coz my kids are missing out on meeting quite a few relatives from their dad's side.

Oh that is sooo cool!!!! I'm glad you reconnected with your relatives!
On my mother's side of the family we have a reunion every 2 years. It's a week long and probably 2/3 of the family shows up. It's a blast!!! On my fathers side we have one every year and about 3/4 of us show up, it's a weekend camping and again, it's a blast!
Family is very important for us and we all try very hard to make all the gatherings, you just don't know when it'll be the last one for someone.

That is so wonderful and that is some picture..Wow you're aunt looks spry and full of life there. We should look as good as that when we're 90 right?? You're so lucky to have relatives. I'm last of the Mohicans here :(
My mom was an only child, me an only, yes, I do have some family, my father's side in CA and I don't know if we'll ever meet. The two sides were never close. My folks were divorced when I was only a year and a half years old. So I have NO memory of any of them of course

Sometimes things turn out that way unfortunately. The family that was at the reunion, with the exception of my brother and wife, sister, and niece, were all from my dad's side of the family. After my mom passed away 26 years ago, we pretty much lost contact with her side of the family. It was like they fell off the face of the earth. You just go on and enjoy your immediate family hon. That's what life is all about. And I'm sure Pywacket thinks he's all the family you'll ever need anyway. LOL

Thanks sweetie. I'm hoping to go visit my aunt and uncle again soon. Since my daughter couldn't go because there was very limited room at the restaurant, I had to promise her that I would take her to see them soon. She reminds me about it every day too. LOL! Hugs to you hon.
