Do you love or hate the comic book superhero: Superman? I personally do not like Superman because I believe that he is over-rated.

Overrated? What do you mean? I used to read all his adventures in the sixties and seventies. I liked what he stood for, that he always helped people, and tried to stamp out evil. Have a great day!

Have you read his comic books lately. Especially any of the comics written by Grant Morrison?

Read Grant Morrison's version of Superman, and you will see how over-powered he has become.

Well you can't put justice to the word SUPER if he wasn't over rated! The overrated man is part of the package. At least he's got some weakness. He does live the life of extremes. He can either be super strong, or totally useless around those green rocks. I see you're an XMEN lover! I love XMEN too. I also have nothing against Superman. We all could do some overrated entertainment once in a while, right? Have a great day!

I have been to so many comic conventions here in Los Angeles and at San Diego (yes, I have been to the famed San Diego Comic Con), and no matter where you go, or who you talk to, just about everyone there will say that Superman is the greatest comic book superhero of all time because many people can relate to him or many people just love who he is and what he represents. Well, I will admit that I used to think he was an awesome character especially back in the 70's, 80's, and 90's when DC had some really great comic books, films, and television shows about him, but lately, since people such as Grant Morrison have gotten a hold of Supes, they have been making a mess of his character and prompted me to want to dislike him. They have made him so over-powered that it is as if he is "God" incarnate. Then again, DC has been making a mess of many of their comic books.

I have always loved superheroes, and I love them to this day. They fascinate me, but Superman, lately, has become too much for me to read.

Wow, you really are into superhero stuffs. Well I guess anything gets really messed up once something gets too commercialized or exploited. I guess the older idea of Superman is the thing that fascinates me. I'm actually open to changes but I don't know if someday something turns up and I too might agree that he's become too overrated. I grew up on Superman stories so I think I'm really hooked a bit. :)

I love Superman. ^__^ I have always been a fan but I'm a silent fan. which means, I don't collect any superman stuffs or anything not even the movies but I do watched them and I kind of cut every brandon routh superman pictures I see on the newspapers. LOL and I don't read the comic books. I don't like it. I prefer watching the cartoons. ^__^

That is fine. I hold nothing against you. At least you are just a fan, you are not a "fanboy" or a "fangirl" who obesses over Superman, those people scare me.

I also think he is over rated. And he is so powerful that is annoying. I prefer someone like batman, he has no super power but he can kick some butt(even supermanĀ“s, lol). In my opinion the best superhero is Batman on DC and in Marvel Spiderman.

That is why I like Batman because he doesn't need abilities kick someone's butt. He just has to use his mind. Yes, he has trained himself to be more than human, but is that bad thing? Not to me. Batman is a human being who has just made himself more than what the average human is. He isn't over-powered. His parents weren't aliens or gods. He is a human being who has made himself a more than human.

Hello rogue :) I'm not a big fan of all those superheroes, so Superman is just one of them for me. I personally think that all of them are over-rated. anyway, if other people love reading about them and watching movies about them, i don't mind.

So, which superheroes would you not consider over-rated and over-powered? I say that the least over-rated would be the members of "The Umbrella Academy", and the least over-powered would be the characters of "Kick-A$$".

Honestly, ever since... even when I was a child, I never liked superman. Maybe because Im not the kind of child who wants heroic and superpower heroes. Even batman, x men, I never watched them or played attention to them. I just dont find them interesting. But I am not against those who like them. Maybe we just think differently in so many ways.

I like Superman for two reasons: 1. I like how these comic books are painted, particularly marvel comics; 2. I liked the first (I think) film of the saga, the one with Marlon Brando performing the part of ...Super-papa! bye

I love superman for his wonderful performance in the movie though he is over-rated. There is no specific about why. I just love to see this movie and his performance. lol

It's okay, but which movie are you talking about? There are six Superman movies.

As a symbol he USED to be worth something, but that's been nerfed. Comic and storywise he's been depowered but thats understandable since not much could get him. I'd say the character is okay, not stellar and not deplorable.

Good discussion - thank you, rogue. Neither hate nor love Supermna, but not much can help because my kids really love him. Either on Film, TV Movie, Anime comic or avatar. Wherever they go, Superman is their superior. Sometime I used Superman name if they are lazy or stubborn to follow my instructions, just like these words and sentences; "Hey girl/boy, if you are lazy to go to school, I will report to your Superman!!!". Spontaneously my daughter/son bed-off hastily, take shower, breakfast and go to school. I losses my 'winning' position about "Superman" with my kids, so insincerely I have to love Superman.

Actually superman is good. But personally I think batman is the best superhero. He's just more popular. Superman isn't. He's over-rated as you stated.

I like Smallville's Clark Kent over the high and mighty Superman. It's like "Geez, what power doesn't Superman have?"

Exactly, but I frankly do not like Smallville's Clark Kent either because I think that he is too watered down.
