Is it really for the good of all?

Ok so I got to thinking the other day about all of these " personal safety laws" we have in this country. My biggest problem with them is who are they to tell me what I should do with my own body? You hear the argument well its for your own good, really? If it was for my own good then I think I should have the choice in the matter. The biggest one I can think of right now is the seatbelt laws. Here is my view on this. If I want to be a retard and drive around without a seatbelt then that should be my right. If I get thrown from my car because of it then oh well thats on me. I've known people who because of their seatbelt were killed in car crashes and others becasue they were not wearing one are actually alive. So who gave the goverment the right to decied what is I should do for my own safety. The same applies to helmet laws. Why are they allowed to dicate to me what I should and shouldn't do to protect myself.

Hey devils, I live in New Hampshire and here, we still have no helmet law, seatbelt law or manditory seatbelt law for those over 18. Our state legislature tried to pass one again this past year but never madfe it out of the senate. I wear one anyways most times but I agrea, it should be my choice.
It is sad however to see that as massichusits' influence creeps further and further north, our state becomes much more liberal and more and more of these feel-good, save-us-from-ourselves laws will pass.
How much stupidity can we realisticaly regulate with out rendering us a completely sterile society lacking in our own sense of personal responsability and legislated in to an inertia.

ROTFLMAO.. I had to laugh at that because I couldn't agree more. It seems as though they take us to be a group of social and intelecutal retards who can't do for themselves without the governments involvment.
