have you been paid by adsense?

Honestly now, has anybody here ever really been paid by Adsense? I’ve heard of people earning big bucks from their internet business but does Adsense really pay? Yeah, I know it says that they pay by sending a check and I forgot the other way, but is this really for real? If yes, then how can I maximize my earnings? I can use some extra dough, too.:-) Thanks! ps. by the way, after almsot a year of having adsense in my site, i only have 12 dollars. that is because i don't get paid if people don't click on my ads. most of the time, they don't. lol
