What was the most scariest to you about your preemie?

My 14 month son was born at 32 weeks and weighed 3.9 pounds. The scariest part of it all was actually being in labor with him. I was so scared knowing that he was coming to early. That was more scary to me then after he was born and the time he spent in the nic unit.

My daughter was born at 32 weeks and 4.5 lbs. The scariest part for me was that she couldn't regulate her body temperture. It was summer and we didn't have air conditioning but I constantly had to cover and uncover her since she would be hot - cold - hot - cold. She also had problems sucking so couldn't nurse very well. Another scary thing was when the doc's whisked her away the second she came out and didn't tell me what was going on. Sometimes they are very neglectful of the mother. The hospital was great though... they let me stay in a room at the end of the hall after I had been discharged just so I could be therre for her. I really believe she started eating and gaining weight because I was there. Nurses do their best, but to have someone dedicated to the baby is essential. By the way... she's 23 now but you never forget having a preemie.

I haven't had preemie's but I did have twins. I was so afraid of them being born too early. Everything turned out fine but it is a very emotional time. I hope your baby is ok now! You take care!
