Why is 95% of telivision shows these days, reality tv? Just about ever cable channel has some sort of reality show. Hogan Knows Best, Real World, Home Shows, Contender, Ultimate Fighter, ect... Why can't we get more tv series and movies instead of this junk

I have noticed television stations seems to go with the flow, if one show is popular all the others sun with the concept, Big Brother was popular so a lot of other Reality shows pop up all over then one day a quiz show tops the rating then a lot of quiz shows all pop up, I think at the moment we are being subjected to many crime series and they all seem to just use letter for the name which at the moment are so many I can't ever remember which is which.

I guess it's because reality shows have become really popular due to people thinking that they can relate with those people who are on the show. Like in Big Brother, the people who join are regular people from different walks of life and viewers can relate to probably at least one of the people inside the house. In Biggest Loser, the contestants are people who have weight problems and they struggle to lose weight, and we cheer them on when they are successful after working hard. Temptation Island has contestants who are couples in real life and they struggle with real issues. TV series and movies are fiction, while reality TV kind of gives us insights into other people's lives -- real lives -- which is probably the reason why these shows are pretty popular.

People these days want something real..this is what many channels feel about people and are taking advantage of it..but i feel these shows most of them are biased..One disadvantage of these Reality shows is that people lose their creatitivity and imagination which used to be main ingredient in many shows before...People need to appreciate the imagination ..

Unfortionately, the execs who run the TV stations found that the masses choose to watch this reality mess. What's worse, reality TV tends to be economical to produce. A few cents in for big bucks out means super profits for the bozos who man our TV stations mean a long run for reality TV.

The fact that all our TV stations are basicly owned by six companies/corporations make this situation worse. If you want real quality, you should probably get a subscription to Netflix. Or go surf the web.

I think we've lost our creativity somewhere along the way, so new shows are hard to come up with. On reality shows there doesn't have to be anyone writing a script. I don't know, that's just my take on it.
