Power out for a couple days

I haven't been around because we had a bad storm and lost power here for a couple days. I just got it back this morning. A few trees got uprooted and a friend of mine got a hole in their roof, but noone was hurt and it wasn't too cold so we didn't lose enough heat to be in trouble. It was tricky though with not being able to heat up anything and being nervous lighting candles at night. Keeping us all occupied was tricky too. But we got through it all good. We had a worse one last year when it was real cold. I hope to catch up on discussion but it may take a while. Got Mount Laundry again LOL

Hi vicki! it seems to me that you are having storm problem at your place. Anytime I read or hear about that (storm), I feel we are lucky where we live. I do feel sorry for the people living where storm is experienced. Am glad that the incident that took place at your friend's house din't hurt anybody. Thanks

Hi vicki, I was wondering what had happened to you. Glad to hear that you and your family are okay. I had heard about the storms back East on the news the other night. Have a good day, and don't have too much fun with all that laundry haha! Luv & Hugzz, PurpleTeddyBear.

Thanks for thinking of me. Sometimes people get lost out in cyber space, but I have come to look at you all here as close friends. :)

It's amazing how well we can get along without electricity. A couple years ago we lost power for a few days - it was in the teens those days... We did go out to eat for dinners and went to my in-laws for showers, but mostly we stayed in the house and bundled up. We read books, played cards... If it hadn't been so cold, it was actually kinda nice.

Yeah we were lucky the heat wasn't so cold this time. Last year the house was in the minuses by the end of it all and frost was on our breath. That was bad. This time just a bit annoying but not by far the worst. Thanks

With having car problems at times now this what more can go wrong. I am glad to hear that noone got hurt. I am in sunny California. We need rain badly. I am not in the part that burnt to the ground. I have the doors and windows opened to get fresh air in the house today it is around 70 degree here. I know I am rubbing it in. I wish we could get some of your stormy weather we need it. Take care

Feast or famine Eh? It is still quite yucky wet and cold here. Lost power again saturday night and we haven't even gotten into the real winter season yet. Lets do a trade!

I too experience powercuts for 15 minutes to 1 hour but this is due to maintenance of their lines and not due to shortage of power. We get a lot of power from hydroelectric powerstations and this year rains are good at catchment area and generation of power is also good.

You are lucky to not lose it for very long. It gets challenging after a day or so. Thanks for responding

We really lucked out with that storm and didn't lose our power. That's what I hate about these storms. I always have loads of candles ready for if the electricity does go out!

I am glad you didn't lose power. It sucked. Not the worst I've gone through, but after about two hours of snakes and ladders I was about to lose it. Thanks

I love storms where we lose power. we always survive and it makes us appreciate things we otherwise would take for granted. My girls and I have been in enough situations that we have some pretty good survival techniques. Still it has been a while since we've had to actually use them....I'm sure it'd be a challenge. Keeping warm is toughest of all.

Yeah the kids actually were wishing it would go out again. It wasn't so bad because the weather was still warm. Last year it happened in December and it was a real real bad problem for many families here. We are way more prepared after that. Thanks

Welcome back! I am glad you are all ok and you didn't have any damage from the storm. It sure is hard to find things to do when there is no power and it is cold out. Have fun catching up on your laundry.
