I learned that in this one country all the citizens should finish their high school education. I was kind of surprised because this is something different from ours. Do you think this is a good law to implement? What do you think should be done with people who cannot finish their high school education?

I know plenty of people who have dropped out, and all of them went back a few years later and got a GED. I suppose if they want to drop out they can, its a free country, but at the same token, that means companies can hire employees FREELY based on education. Kids, stay in school!

I think it is a good law as long as the students get to do some kind of course or trade at the same time whilst at highschool. I know some schools here in Australia, students get to take up trade aswell whilst at school. Therefore when they finish highschool they are just about ready to start their trade. It is also good, as some students do not know what they want to do with their life at 15 years old, so whilst they are at school longer they have more time to make wise choices. I might be biassed though since I am a teacher.

While I definitely recommend students getting as much schooling as they possibly can, no, I don't think it should be law. Here, the law states a child must remain in school until they are 16. When they are 16, they are free to make their own decision regarding schooling. No one can DEMAND success from another person. It has to be worked for and earned. If one person doesn't want to pursue that route, knowing it's their best shot at security, then it's no one else's place to tell them they HAVE to.

I do think it should be required that students finish high school. Those who drop out early can never have a promising career, because most jobs.. even entry-level at least require a high school diploma. letting kids drop out of high school just sets them up for failure.
