Now listen you drunk drivers While hear on earth you dwell You never know when the time will come When you will have to say farewell To your dear mother and sister Thou they be miles away I saw an accident one day That should charm the heart of man And teach them not to drink a drop While the steering wheels in their hand This awful accident occered on the 20th day of May Causing two lovely little children to sleep beneath the clay These two dear kids were walking side by side Upon the state highway Their mother, she had died Their father had ran away They were talking of their loving parents How sad their hearts did feel When around the curve came a car With a drunk man at the wheel He saw these two dear children And tooted a drunken sound Get out of the road you little fools And the car it brougt them down The bumper caught the little girl Taking her life away While the little boy in the gore of blood In the ditchline there did lay The drunk staggered fromhis car To see what he had done His heart sank within him WHen he saw his loving son So he picked them up and carried them to the car Such morning from a drunk man I have never seen before His his little boy said Daddy has come once more While kneeling on the running board He prayed this drunken prayer Saying Please Dear Lord forgive me for This awful crime I've done THis his attention was called away By the words of his dying son Saying Please Dear Dad don't drink so more While driving on your way But meet us up in Heaven dad With mom some sweet day.
