Do you make sure everything flushes when you're in a public restroom?

When you use a public bathroom, do you make sure everyhing goes down when you flush? Where I work, there is 1 bathroom that 4 offices share. Of those offices, there are 5 women that use the bathroom. I know these women, although we work for different companies. We know each others names, say "Hi" in the hallway and chat every now and then. What I just can't understand is why would one of them not be making sure the toilet flushes properly? This has been happening a lot lately and it's pretty gross. I feel like maybe putting a sign up in the stall that says to make sure it flushes properly because I don't want to single out who's doing it.

Hi Dawn, I worked with a company that employed mostly women, we had a few men on the floor with us, but 95% woman here. We had that same problem in our restroom, though there were 5 stalls and then a 2 stall bathroom downstairs. The larger restroom would be like this, Im like com'on now ladies, act like your at home a little bit! I mean I dont expect them to clean it, just flush it! Or like you said, make sure its flushed. Also a lot of times, women would just toss their sanitary napkins in the trash can....not wrapping it up in tissue or the little plastic wrap, heck they wouldnt even fold it up, just lying there open. Talk about disgusting. Do you think their needs to be employee restroom ettiquet classes? LOL Bay Lay Gray xx

Exactly BaylieghGray!!! Why can't you act the same way in public that you do at home??? I sometimes think I'm a bit too sensitve about this stuff... But I guess not!!! And that is just gross about the napkins... I think I should start a discussion asking for the Employee Restroom Etiquette Handbook suggestions!!!!

Hey Blueunicorn - it's just amazing what people do when they're not at home... I don't get it either!

Ewwww! I'm a woman, and the thought of seeing that grosses me out. I would feel for any men that had to be subjected to it. Why can't people just use common courtesty? Or maybe courtesy isn't so common anymore?

The sign is a good idea. Then, like you said, no one will feel singled out. Yes, I always make sure the toilet flushes in public. I don't like public restrooms to begin with, so I am very careful about how I leave a public restroom.

Of Course evryone flushes the toliet, I don't think no one would go into a bathroom stall and use the bathroom if it is not flush, but sometimes we don't have a choice, it could be only one rest room right?

marciascott - yeah, sometimes it's the toilet, but usually they don't hit the handle all the way so it doesn't flush all the way. I will go ahead and flush it when I see it - then wash my hands and use the other stall. Normally, nothing's wrong, they were just too hurried to really flush it all the way.

I would just put a sign there and say, Please Flush the Toliet and that goes for you! they way you won't half to single no one out.

I know, I would hate to go to all the other women and ask them to make sure they flush. But I do think the sign would be more appropriate.

That's gross! I make sure everything flushes before I leave the toilet. It would be so embarassing if someone went in just after I did and realized it was me who didn't flush properly (especially if it is at a place where I work and I know the person).

Yeah, that's what I thought too - it's not like we don't know who it could be. There's only 5 women that it would be. I just hope that one of the other women isn't thinking it's me!!!
