I was just outside talking to a neighbour, when Lucy, like always, dropped her rope toy at my feet. I picked it up and threw it, Lucy went after it and just as she did the goat was startled and pulled his chain tight just as Lucy was running that way. The chain was pulled tight on Lucy's right front foreleg...she didn't fall but she became confused and even though she put her foot down it's obviously hurting her, she gets nervous and licks her lips. There was no obvious break...the dear little one limped over to me and gave me her foot to check...but she's uncomfortable. I'll keep an eye on it for a few hours. Lucy is so strong and healthy, she has working dog in her genes so she could play and play (or work and work) all day if she could...even when they injure themselves, they just keep going. Poor little soul. Does your dog go all day or most of the day or does he lie around and do nothing but eat and sleep?

When I was twevle we had a pet goat that we tied in the front yard so we could keep an eye on it but while we were gone once a pack of wild dogs killed it and barely left anything. We never got another goat, my dad shopt one of the dogs though it was huge and wild and crazy the others ran(not that I condone killing the of dogs or other animals, well except snakes) We were relieved they never came back although they could be heard. I am sorry to hear about your dog. Hope she feels better soon. My dog which is a mixed breed of miniature dalmation and american pitt bull. She does both she lays around alot, but sometimes when she is in a playing mood she will be up and about running playing with vigorous excitement. She is a happy loving dog. I got her on easter a few years ago from my husband. She was a fiesty little pup also.

I am glad that the dog is okay. Cool, you have gotten another goat. I like the name. So do you plan on one day maybe breeding the goats? My moms preacher raises goats to sell and they are so cute. I wonder if they are such a thing as miniature goats? that be cool then if they could be paper trained they could stay in the house..Not mine though, because hubby has a fit if I let the animals in, even though I do sneak them in when he is gone sometimes.(naughty me,their goes my gifts from Santa!..lol)

Too funny. I can't breed the goats as Pickles is a wether. I was told if I wanted a goat who was a boy to have him marked because they end up stinking. So I marked him. If I did breed goats to sell they'd be for eating around here and I couldn't handle that. There is such a thing as a mini goat....there is a something or other Dwarf Goat and a something or other Pygmy goat. I don't know too much else. My friend tells me her son would put diapers on his goat and bring him inside and I've seen goats who grew up with the family dogs, sitting on the lounge with the family. I've let Pickles inside and he's like a hurricane...his hooves don't do well on the polished floor either . He's curious abnout everything. Tulip when she came in was calmer but she peed and pooped every couple of minutes....lol. They are both kept outside now.

That's so sad. I'm careful with Pickles ... he's always where dogs can't get him. When I first moved him from the yard so he could get some better grazing a little dogs raced at him. Pickles ran and got caught in some tractor gear...he screamed...it was one of the most awful sounds I've heard. I never want him to be that scared again. I have another goat now, got her last Sat. Her name is Tulip and I'll be posting the story soon with a photo. Luce is back to normal, her little accident wasn't much at all.

Oh poor Lucy. Hope she's feeling better. Our dog mostly sleeps but she does get her exercise in too. She doesn't eat a whole lot - she's still got a trim shape on her.

Wished my beagle Buster didn't eat so much. Cleaning the yard is the worst result of his huge appetitie. HAHAHA! Ewwwww!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Lucy eats like a horse...maybe 2 horse (I spoil her a bit). She also sleeps a lot like most dogs so it's up to me to see she gets enough exercise to keep her weight down. Her coat is glossy, her muscles well defined, her eyes are clear and sharp. I get lots of compliments on her condition...even from vets. I wish t were as easy to keep my own weight where it should be...lol.

Lucy does a fair bit of sleeping too. I reckon that's why they say "it's a dog's life". They just do whatever makes 'em happy.

Poor Lucy. She may have bruised the bone on the chain I feel. Keep an eye on it for swelling and serious soreness. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Nah, don't think there was any lasting damage thanks mate. She's a hardy Aussie bred dog. There was no indication she'd hurt herself after a few hours. Initially, it seemed bad though and seemed to be very painful.

Poor baby! I hope it feels better soon! I have a cat that keeps on going & he stepped on a piece of glass last spring & was limping around for a while - it really cramped his style for a while. He sometimes jumps off something wrong & still favors that foot for a minute, like the scar hurts - BOY can I relate to THAT!

Yeah, me too. Lucy received a horrific injury to her foot in August 2005. It healed fast but she still hurts it if she goes to hard or lands wrong on it. She doesn't seem to learn the lesson either...poor darlin'.

Hi MsTickle! Your Lucy sounds so adorable! Our dog is a pitbull and her name is NgatNgat, it is a local word which means chewing. We named her that because when she was a puppy she chews anything she can reach and put in her mouth. She loves her morning walk with my husband and then just run around the yard for a couple more minutes after their stroll. After that, he will just lie down and eat and sleep. hehe.. Lazy and playful but we love her so much. Take care and have a nice day.

Luce has the whole town trained to play ball with her. Anyone who comes to buy fuel gets a ball dropped at their feet and 9.9 times out of 10 they play with her. LOL. The soreness cleared up quickly.

Oh poor Lucy, dogs are so funny, not quite as smart as cats I don't think, lol, she obviously loves you, coming over to have her paw checked, that is so cute.

Ahhh that is so cute. I don't have a dog anymore but when I did he tended to just sleep around all doing barely moving until it was time for walkies and then he run like he wind. My aunt's dog is the kind who runs around barking happily. I guess dogs are like people really aren't they? Some are lazy, some are bubbly.
