I was watching the rerun of the Oprah Winfrey show when it airs again at 1:00 in the morning. Her "theme" was the best watched YouTube videos. One of them showed the YouTube video of the UK's equivalent of American Idol type thing, called Britains Got Talent. So yes, you have contestants that try their hand of fame. Now you must understand I AM NOT a bit fan of opera...urgh..my mother bombarded me with it so I just never appreciated it. But when I heard this guy sing I was blown away. His name is Paul Potts, a shy unassuming cell phone seller who happens to love to sing opera....and boy does he ever! So I just had to share two videos about his singing...The first is his "audition" piece for the show Britain's Got Talent and then there is another. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1k08yxu57NA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHYYz_mGP1U He of course won the competition and he will now be singing a performance before the Queen of England Okay you might not be a fan of opera...but please listen..Paul Potts is incredible!

Yes he's awesome. Just think of the impression he gave when he first came on stage for the audition. He looked like he's gonna cry then and there. He looked as a person with no self confidence. But once he started to sing.... I was like wow! Man He has an amazing voice. He deserves to win. And him winning was not a surprise to me. But the best thing about him is the air of humbleness.

well I listen more to country than any hting but we do listen to all kinds here from classical to hip hop . We have Cds with songs from the 20s on up to this age in time and sometimes I se tand think how primitive the old music is and how the sounds of the mucis has changed thru the years!

I've him sing before and he is amazing! Awesome talent! I appreciate good classical music and it is very hard to sing that way. "Time to Say Goodbye" is a beautiful song and he sang it beautifully! I am glad that he won the competition!

Hi pyewacket! I have seen that video and it was my husband who showed that to me. I admit I was really amazed and for the first time in my life, I was really all eyes and ears on a singer. He is fantastic and I was really blown away. And he looks so humble and so kind. I think he will become one great star. OMG, he is going to sing before the Queen, that is incredible! Take care and have a nice day.

I have Paul Potts's CD, titled "One Chance" and it is absolutely wonderful! The song "Cavatina" that he dedicated to his wife makes me cry every time I hear it. Just Wow. I also found his official website PaulPottsUK.com. This man has an incredible talent. Goosebumps galore. Unbelievable. Funny, I used to hate opera! TJ in Texas

I'm not a huge fan of opera either but I received links via email. How brilliant is this guys voice? I had to watch it over and over and I've since been to his fan site or family blog...not sure which...lol. He seems a lovely bloke who is truly genuine and deserving of good things. His voice made me go all goose bumply and then I became teary. I was so pleased for him that he got the opportunity to shine.

Even before i watched the videos I knew who you were talking about. I stumbled upon this video on youtube when I was watching another contestant from this show. A very cute little girl who sang Somewhere Over The Rainbow! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWNoiVrJDsE I am not a fan of opera either, but I can def. appreciate that this guy has a power voice for it! I believe that the last 2 contestants were this guy, and the little girl!

I never cared for opera either since my mom did a bit of overkill in playing opera when I was a kid, and no I could never sit through the operas either. My mom did take me to a few but thankfully never one of the Wagner ones that last hours and hours and hours..LOL

WOW! He was really good! I kind of like the opera. Never been of course but I do LOVE "The Phantom of the Opera" 2004. My favorite song is "Think of Me". I love trying to sing like that too :)

I am an opera fan, pyewacket, and I have previously seen the video. I agree that Paul Potts is incredible. He has an amazing talent and his future appears to be set. I am not a fan of Simon Cowell. I think he is a pompous a**, but the world is full of them.

Considering Paul Potts never had any real formal training to sing he is fantastic. His voice isn't as steady singing as say Pavarotti, and I was comparing a video of Pavarotti singing the same piece, but heck, Potts is still fantastic
