Today's The Day... Excited or What?

Runes - A set of Norse, stone runes. Not my set, which will be wooden.

Tonight, I am to be gifted with my Runes... woohoo, yeehah, at last... I can't contain myself. I've been waiting patiently for this moment, and at last, it has arrived! For those who wonder what the heck I'm on about, a close friend of mine has made me a set of Runes, and I'm told he has even got a little bag to put them in for me. They've been promised for a while now... he said he needed to get them checked by an expert to make sure they were perfect... then, very sadly, his Mum passed away three weeks ago... but now, I am about to be gifted with them, plus a book on herbs which subject I am studying and a book about a Viking... another of my interests. So, all in all, today and tonight promise to be good... I'm so excited!!!Once I get them home, I'll take a pic and post it in my profile for anybody who's interested. I just can't wait!!!:)

Yes you did say you were going to explain what the heck the runes are about and I am none the wiser and would like an explanation of what they are for. They sound as though you need them for something and hope that they serve thier purpose for you. Have a nice rune happening from Deeeky.

WOW! Thanks for such a filled description. I was fairly close in my response as to what I knew about these Runes and their purpose. I answered through my email and didn't read any responses. Thanks for the great description and history. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Yes, they are very important to me, Kowgirl, and if you're interested in what they are, I've written quite a lengthy explanation in Deeeky's response, on Page 1. :) Thank you for your input and Brightest Blessings.

Now this is great for you it seems. I had heard of these before but never really knew the whole story behind them. I had heard something about some type of fortune telling or something like that and Norse Gods from eons ago as the originators. I can't recall. I am answering this in my emails so I hope to get a better explanation of what these are more. Thanks for sharing and enjoy the Runes. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

From what I see, you have a more detailed description now and know that it's not fortune telling that the runes are famed for, but like the tarot, a past, present, future reading. The past and present can't be changed but the future can, by deviating from your present path slightly. In other words, if you don't like what you see, get off your present path and find one which will give you a better future! Brightest Blessings.

Hi, Lecanis, my friend. I haven't seen you for a little while. I hope all is well within your family, with the health issues and such, and that you, yourself are felling somewhat bettr. I'm sure they'll be everything I expected, and indeed I did talk about them quite a while back, perhaps the beginning of September, so you have a good memory, my friend. I'll have them on my profile within the next twenty hours, if not much sooner, so do keep a lookout. :) Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. x

Hmm, well I have a good memory when it comes to things my friends are very excited about, at least. And we did have a pretty long conversation about them before. But yes, I'm awesome! :p I actually just got back yesterday from taking my son to a pediatric neurologist in another town... we might be changing his medicine, and having more tests, but he's doing good. He hasn't had a seizure in a couple months now, so we're happy about that. And I'm feeling so much better that I'm starting work again tomorrow after having been out for months, though I still have the vertigo, I'm just functioning better with it. Still, the medicine I have is helping enough I should be able to work, at least part time, and that's a plus. :)

That's really awesome getting your runes! I have a set I made sometime ago with river rocks from the driveway and a permanent marker lol. The marker is starting to rub off unfortunetely, so I don't use them very often. Hope your working with them pays off for you!
@Darkwing (21583)

Thank you Lancingboy. It's a shame your marker is beginning to rub off as those runes will still be holding the personal power you instilled in them. Can you not refresh them, and varnish them so that the marker is protected some? I'm making a portable circle out of pebbles I collected from a local beach, seven in total. I have some acrylic paints and am going to paint the four Elemental signs in their respective colours, a God symbol, a Goddess symbol and a Pentacle. Then, to preserve them for a longer time, I'm going to varnish over the top of the paintwork, with a clear varnish. It might be worth a go with your runes. Just a suggestion... of course, it's up to you what you do, but it would be a shame to forego all that personal power. Brightest Blessings.

Sounds very cool. I had a set once, that were pieces of clay pressed round by a thumb, and had a face pressed into the front of them, with a tiny face of a doll. Have fun with yours.

Wow... that sounds fascinating Pendragon. Hey! Are you a Uther fan by any chance? I will have fine with mine. They're tiny, but oh so meaningful. Even smell of something I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe a mix of lavender and pathouli!

Runes can certainly be a powerful divination tool. I've used them on occasion and made a set for myself at one point as I was getting some mixed results from the ones I purchase at a book store. Just remember, like any tool for divination the outcome is greatly shaded by your emotion and involvement in the inquiry. The runes will show you what your subconscious mind knows but you don't. Be calm and resolved to seek "truth" when you use them and know that whatever the result it is not cast in stone. Your divination is merely a possibility that your subconscious wants you to be aware of. It can be a warning or it could be comfort, just remember that it is NEVER fated one way or another.

Thank you so much, Wingedman, for affording me such a detailed response. I will take your advice when I use the runes. Brightest Blessings, my friend.

How lovely for your friend to do that for you and to take such meticulous care. Yes, love shows up in the details alright. I am sure you will enjoy having them as another way of doing Oracle readings. They are a wonderful way to 'open channels' and I've been working with Runes for years. I have two sets one that a friend gave me and a second set I created for myself from some lovely polished river stones. You will undoubtedly have many wonderful epiphanies as you work with them...I sure have. May the wisdom that they contain provide the answers you seek. Love, light and big hugs, Raia

Thank you Raia my friend. There isn't much I can add to that except for that is the third treasured gift I've had recently, and I am very touched that all three of you thought of me. You are true and knowing friends, indeed! :) Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. x

Yes, the time can't go quick enough for me today. Nine hours to go! lol. Thank you for your kind regards and condolences... it's been a very sad, and busy time for him. I wrote him a poem when she passed, which he really liked, so I guess that's a little gift in return for him, huh? You know... her spirit visited me when she left... it was about 3 minutes before the approximate time he gave me, and I had no inkling that it was her time to leave. I was sitting here, in a warm, heated room, with all windows and the door closed, when suddenly, I felt an icy cold breeze... it lasted only a few seconds, but I knew, straight away that her time had come to leave. I'd never met her personally, but I guess she knew who I was. :) I haven't told him yet. I have to wait until the time is right, I think. Well anyway... one shouldn't dwell on these things too much. I need to concentrate on the here and now, and I certainly will post an update on the Runes. Woohoo. :) Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. xx
