I'm atheist, my mum is atheist, and my dad was atheist and my brother is atheist. My dad died one 'nd a half year ago. The rest of my family is christian and they wanted him to get burried in a christian graveyard, but actually I didn't felt for burrying him in a christian graveyard as he was an atheist, and I dont think he wanted that either. Of course it meant something for his mum and his sister but I know that both my mum and brother feel the same like me. Do you think that we should have said that we wouln't burry him in christian graveyard? And if you are atheist do you want to be burried on a religous graveyard just because your family are of some religon?

I'm not an atheist but I'm not into the whole graveyard thing. Its a waste of space. My body will be creamated & spread to the wind. Hopefully there will be something for my family to remember me by besides a headstone. If not it wasn't much of a life to remember.

I think you got it quite well. Whats the point of taking up that much land to bury a body that in most cases will seldom be visited & in a few generations be all but forgotten. I haven't been to a graveyard for years. I haven't been to a cemetary in years. I remember my grandfather when I visit the family farm & when I'm using his anvil ( now my prized posession ). There's an eagle sculpture my grandmother made on top of my entertainment center that I see every day. Those serve far better as a reminder than any headstone would.
