Writer's Strike

I saw this on a local news website today. I thought those of you who watch The Office and Brothers and Sisters would be interested. I hate to see this happen right when the season is getting started and we are all into the new story lines. "Filming has stopped on the popular NBC sitcom "The Office" because star Steve Carell has refused to cross the picket lines of striking writers, a producer said Wednesday. ADVERTISEMENT Greg Daniels, executive producer of the show, says the last new episode of the show will air next week. It is among at least eight prime-time shows to stop shooting as of Wednesday because of the strike. A publicist for Carell did not immediately return calls from The Associated Press. Sally Field, who won the best actress Oscar in 1979 for the pro-union film "Norma Rae," left the set of her show, "Brothers & Sisters," to visit strikers and show her support. No new contract talks are scheduled."

Thank you for the update. I sure hate that Brothers and Sisters won't be filming any more now but I can understand what Sally Field is doing and why.

You can go to www.tvguide.com, and they list which shows have stopped production and how many shows each has already filmed. A lot of shows like The Office, already have shows in the can, so they can show new programs for the rest of sweeps, and some in December. Reality shows won't be affected, and I'm afraid we'll have a rash of those since they don't require writers.

Thanks for the link! Yeah, I'm already hearing of new reality shows coming up and scheduled to hit. Some don't sound good at all.

I know, I am really bummed about this b/c my fav shows....Office and My Name is Earl are reruns and granted the old ones are funny, but aargh, when will I get to see new episodes? I'm not going crazy or anything, I actually prefer not to watch tv if I can help it, but those shows are hilarious!
