I have been meaning to start this discussion. Why on earth do people feel they need to stand two inches away from you when in line? Or two inches away and to the left or right so they are kind of standing next to you instead of behind you where they should be. Ugh! Stop it! How do you deal with people like this? I always want to turn around and say can you please move back before I stab you in the leg? Thanks. Much appreciated. I has behind this lady the other day who had to get a cart to carry her bag of chips and asprin, first of she did the bending knees then grab the jeans and pull up while she wiggled her butt. Ugh. And then she did a little jig while singing the song that started playing in the store. What is wrong with you people?!

I was in line at CVS last week and I was standing 2 feet away from the man checking out. I would have anyway, but it was apparent he had passed gas, so I wanted to be far away from him. I would have been farther back, but the guy behind me was so close, I could feel him breathing on my neck! When he started talking to his wife on the cell phone I jumped because it was right in my ear!

You know what I hate KB, Is little kids that are knocking my purse around my arm with their heads cos they are so close to me. Ill turn around and give a look to the parent, and grab my purse as if they are trying to pick pocket me. lol I feel like you do, I want to turn around and request my 3 ft of personal space! Is that too much to ask? Why would you want to be piled ontop of strangers in a line to check out. I myself have never understood this. Its possible that you just smell better than the average person and they are trying to get a wiff of you. I think next time Im just going to announce what it is Im wearing and ask them all to PLEASE BACK UP.....lmao Bay Bay xx

Oh yes... ewwww. I can't stand this sort of thing. Usually I find it happens most with people from other cultures, and I'm a little more understanding then, but when people who should know better do it... grr. I have to work really hard not to get violent with them. I have intentionally stepped on people's feet when they were standing too close to me, or elbowed them and such. I probably shouldn't, but I just get sooo annoyed. Once I knocked a guy down because he came up next to me in line at a store and I was carrying this big box, so I just turned abruptly and hit him with it, like it was an accident. I'm so mean. :P

It's kind of like when you walk into a gas station and one person is smoking, but when you walk out, you're the one who smells like the ash tray.

I've found a way to sometimes put it to a hault. When someone is standing behind me so close I can feel their breath on my neck, I step back slowly. Now they have two choices, either step back or move slightly to the side. It works for me. Something else you can do is turn around and just stare at the person. That freaks them out.....lol

Usually the biggest space in a line is in front of me, and some have confused the end of the line being in front of me. I couldn't care less, but most people who are more perceptive who got behind me are generally more sensitive to such issues. Perhaps it is psychological - they think they are going faster and will get out the door faster somehow by being closer to the checkout ... I wouldn't mind you wiggling your butt in front of me :D

Kiobug, see I'm a rude person when I fell like your invading my space so when someone is to close to me i do turn around and say (no I don't ask I tell them) get off my back if I feel your breathe on me you are to damn close and the next time I won't tell you to to back off I'm going to mace your butt(PG version) usually I'll they will back up. Plus I don't hide facial expressions so my face shows that I do mean what i say. I can't stand it when my kids do it and I jump on them everytime they do it. My thing if you don't want your space invaded then don't invade someone elses(Back the F_ PG-13version UP)

I have to say I don't like people getting too close either. It always seems worse in queues, usually in the supermarket or the bank. I often carry a shopping basket and have used this to *gently nudge* people away from me in queues.

I can understand you're being upset when someone is standing too close for I'd be too. Everybody has a personal space in which all others should respect. However someone who's in a good mood and dances to the music, I don't see any harm in that.

Well when you are trying to move away from the person too close to you in the back its hard not to be close to the dancing lady with the big butt and shopping cart.

Some people have no clue about personal space. I've seen this with some tactless people and I've seen it done more towards women. It is sad and I don't think anyone wants to be breathed on by someone, especially someone with bad breath (I've been there -_-). At times, I try to stretch a bit to enforce the personal space. "What is wrong with you people?!"-[/quote] People are still trying to find out.

We live in a *NOW* generation. Everybody wants something as fast as they can get it. So people tend to be pushy or impatient. If someone stands to close to be I do what many of you have said and simply start to back up. - Mike

Hehehe. Reminds me of that '80's song by the Police - "Don't Stand So Close to Me". I think people do it because they're afraid somebody might cut in front of them. I was standing in a check-out line one day and the woman behind me could easily have been trying to get a whiff of my perfume, or she could have been getting her jollys off rubbing up against my butt... either way, I backed up and 'accidentally' tromped on her foot. She got the message.

BUT i agree, especially at banks and such........get the he*l away from me, you do NOT need to stand and breathe on my neck thank you.........people are ALWAYS in such damn hurries. and the stores are the worst......gawd, let me pay, you do not need to be up in my sh*t ya know? oh i SO feel ya on this, BACK UP. oh and haha the whole "bending knees then grab the jeans and pull up while she wiggled her butt" issue, HAHAHA i can JUST imagine this, and you standing there rolling your eyes! HAHAHAAHA! oh man, this was SO funny to me! sometimes this is why i hate leaving the house, haha! i have zero tolerence for anyone anymore!! haha! everything and everyone annoys me it seems, people are so weird anymore!!

LOL, I don't think I've ever had that problem before. Normally when I go to the store I have my S/O with me and he always stands behind me or to my side. Even when I've gone alone I've never really had anyone stand super close to me. I guess because I usually put my cart behind me so I can unload it. Or it could be because I do most of my shopping in the middle of the night lol.
